    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My work placement with PWC exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it greatly. Although 6 weeks is not a huge amount of time I got a good insight into the firm and feel I learnt a lot. I only wish the internship was two or three weeks longer so that I could have got more experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • During my internship, I felt valued by all of my colleagues, no matter what level they were at. They were very caring and helpful when giving me work and tasks to do, and also appreciated the work that I had put in. I worked in two small teams, both of which did everyone they could to make me feel included and part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The level of support and guidance by managers and supervisors was very good overall. I was given work and tasks to do on every audit I worked on which was clearly explained to me. Furthermore, they were more than happy to provide me with further support whenever I needed it. All of my colleagues were very professional and knowledgeable.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was working during the summer, so this was during the supposed 'quiet' season. On some days I was very busy and would be working pretty much all day non-stop. On the other hand, some days I did not have a huge amount of work to but this was rare. I got busier as the internship went along as I learnt how to do new things.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good level of responsibility during my internship, and this exceeded my internship. I was responsible for certain pieces of audit work which I completed on my own. As I became more confident and able to complete certain pieces of work I was given more responsible, which made me feel like I had made a significant contribution to the overall audit.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel the skills I have developed during this summer internship will help me in my studies and further beyond. I got a good insight into audit work and I think this will help me if I decide to go into this field. Also developed my abilities to talk to clients and work in teams in a professional environment, which will help me in both university and the wider world.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was working in audit so the majority of my time was spent at client sites in their offices. However, I was in the office on some days and the general atmosphere there seemed quite positive but a little bit quite. In terms of the atmosphere at client sites, this totally depended on both the client and the team in which you were working with.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall, the internship was set up very well. The induction was great and made me feel confident for the internship as I got to learn more about PWC and meet other interns. I always knew what I was doing and where I was going, so on the basis of that I feel the internship was set up very well. This matched my expectations because of the firm's fantastic reputation as a graduate employer.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Waiting to hear back from the firm. However, they emphasized that the majority of interns do get a job offer and this was highlighted by the fact that many of the graduates I had talked to during my time on the internship were former interns themselves. At worst, I have a got a great insight into the big 4 firms and into accounting, and this will help me a lot going forward.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Overall, the social scene was good among the interns. Although we didn't work together, we kept in touch with each other and arranged a few social activities such as going for a drink after work. I found the interns to be very similar minded which meant they were always up for some fun. My colleagues also talked about how good the social scene was in the office.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was working and living in Manchester so the cost of living was reasonable but this totally depends on your preferences. There was some affordable accommodation not far from the office. In terms of the cost of socialising, this was reasonable as well but again depends on the activities and the places you are looking to visit. PWC have offices across the country, so if cost of living is important to you choose a location based on that.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
