Overview
Intern -> helping the team with their tasks, being given smaller, less significant entities to be responsible for, doing testing, picking the samples, documenting the results of testing, liasing with the client about any queries the team may have.
Skills
I have gained sufficiency in Excel, and the systems relevant to PwC, and developed my soft skills such as communication both orally and written.
Responsibilities
Flying Starts tend to start right in the busy audit period, so it varied massively; on my second client, I had tasks specifically allocated to me from the beginning that were entirely my responsibility, compared to my first client, where I joined in the middle of the audit, so at best, helped others with documentation on their tasks.
Support & Guidance
I have been incentivised to ask any and all questions I may have, and I have taken them up on that offer, asking my seniors, whether they be Associates, up to the Senior Managers allocated to the team.
Culture
Very open and live-and-let-live, it was overall quite jovial, a lot of the time while doing work I would hear laughter in the background, and when I was working later hours, the team would encourage me to do what was best for myself, and leave when I felt drained, demonstrating their care for mental wellbeing.
Your Impressions
I've learned so much, and met so many great people who have made this placement infinitely more smoother than I expected when I first joined, so I have enjoyed these few months massively.
No
It can be a large amount of work that one may not expect if they were applying for my degree, but you're able to get in the swing of it very quickly, so to not stress.
