The Role
I really enjoyed my internship as it was extremely insightful and was given a great deal of responsibility throughout my 6 weeks here. I could always ask if I was unsure of something which allowed me to complete the work to a good standard. I was always given work which added value which made this experience extremely rewarding.
Throughout the internship I always felt valued by colleagues as they always treated me like a grad. I could always be open with them about work or just the general internship experience.
Managers were always there too support me whenever needed. You could just send them message and more often than not, they would be take time out so they could talk to you. There was always clear guidance provided on what's expected of us and what we need to do to secure the grad offer.
I was lucky enough to be reasonably busy throughout the internship. Wasn't excessively busy , but it allowed me to work at the pace I wanted. Whenever I would run out of work, I could easily approach a manager and they would talk me through any new pieces of work they would like me to complete.
There was a lot of responsibility given to me from Day 1, there was always work assigned to me before I started work on a certain client. This demonstrated the level of planning that has gone into this internship.
My technical skills have auditing have developed as well soft skills, such as when working in teams. It will definitely help with my final year of my degree, as there are so many transferable skills I have picked over the course of this internship.
The Company
General atmosphere in the office is extremely friendly, everyone is extremely welcoming and willing to help out if we needed anything. You have plenty of socials and other activities which are organised regularly.
The placement was extremely well organised, especially the induction at Staverton Park. It seems like there was a lot of careful planning at every stage. Even when we were working, there seemed to a good balance between office work and on site client work.
There was a lot of effort from PwC to make sure that we got the most out of the 6 weeks we were here. There was plenty of training provided during the induction, and also on the job training was immense. You could always ask someone if you were unsure.
A lot of the interns do go onto secure grad offers, will find out soon though.
The Culture
All the interns got on really well throughout the internship.
Cost of living wasnt bad at all, but there are not many places to stay close to the office. Most people stay in Nottingham which is about an half an hour drive every morning.
Didn't really get a chance to experience the nightlife, as I would drive back home to Birmingham every Friday after work.
There weren't many opportunities to get involved, but this is potentially because of the time of year. A lot of people were on holiday.
