The Role
I found my internship highly enjoyable.
All of my colleagues were very welcoming and made me feel part of the team straight away. They were understanding that this was something completely new to me and were able to provide assistance and training throughout the internship.
Upon starting my internship I was assigned both a People Manager and a Buddy. I was able to approach both with any questions and queries that I had which was a big comfort.
I always had work to be getting on with and worked at a variety of client sites across the North West.
I was given the same level of responsibility that a new graduate employee would have, which I found challenging but happy with the fact I was being trusted with that responsibility.
The first week of the internship is designated for training. I have gained a really good insight into accounting principles and assurance, as well as soft skills such as communiction and time management, which hopefully will cross over into my studies.
The Company
The office atmosphere was very relaxed. I was mostly based at client sites but when I had the opportnity to visit the office everyone was really friendly.
The organisation and attention to detail of the internship was excellent. All parts, paticularly during the first week of training, were really well thought through and gave strong platform to succeed during the internship.
The company were very focused on personal training and development. One of the the six weeks of the internship was dedicated solely to training, including a 3 day residential course with all of the other interns on my intake.
Company Parties/Events
Based on my experiences, working for PwC in the future would be very appealing.
The Culture
The social scene is very good with lots of events taking place. This ranged from regualr office drinks to networking events.
I lived at home during the internship, but the general cost of living in Liverpool isn't too high.
The nightlife in Liverpool is fantastic, catering for all tastes and preferences.
The company run several sports teams, which due to the time of year I was unable to join in on, but is something I would definitely look to do if I joined as a graduate.
