The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my Summer Internship with PwC. The work was interesting, the people were extremely welcoming, and the programme itself was well structured - with a week-long induction before we began on actual work.
Everyone that I worked with at PwC was friendly and made an effort to include me as part of their team. A lot of the work that I did during the six weeks was part of a larger project. My team often explained to me how the work that I was doing fit in to these larger projects to help me see how I was adding value.
My managers / buddy and I often met up to review how I was performing. Also, they welcomed questions at all times and helped me to tailor my experience to my interests. For example: they put me in touch with people from certain divisions in the company that I was interested in learning about.
How busy you are depends on which team you are assigned to / the time of year. A lot of the time I was busy with work to do, A good balance of work - not too much and not too little.
Most of the time, after an initial walk-through of how to carry out a piece of work, you are left to do it by yourself. Of course, if you are unsure of anything, you can ask your team members for guidance.
The skills and knowledge that I have gained from this placement are likely to be highly useful to me as I go in to the third year of my degree (Accounting and Finance). The Summer Internship has given me a more broad and practical understanding of the content that I have been learning so far, and, without doubt, will provide me with a good foundation for my future career.
The Company
In my office (More London), the atmosphere was great. It was both professional and relaxed. Everyone that I met was extremely friendly and there was strong sense of teamwork in all of the teams that I worked with.
I think that the PwC Summer Internship programme is set up well. You begin with a week long induction which includes presentations, technical training and networking. After this, for the rest of the internship, you are assigned to client teams.
PwC definitely invest a lot of resources in the training and development of their interns. We received technical training during our induction and had objectives to meet during the internship to ensure that we were developing and making the most of our time at PwC.

Sports and Social Club
Future employment prospects within PwC are appealing. The atmosphere within the firm is unbeatable and there are a wide range of opportunities within the firm. It is not surprising that PwC regularly tops the 'best graduate employers' lists.
The Culture
The networking events during the first week meant that you got to know your fellow interns quickly. Many of the interns from my office regularly met up at weekends/after work.
I was living roughly 30 minutes away from the More London office. Prices were high as to be expected with London. You can find more reasonably priced accommodation if you are willing to have a longer journey to work in the mornings.
The Nightlife was good. As the office was in a fairly central location in London, there is a wide range of places that you can go to.
There were a number of social activities that I was invited to during the internship. These included tennis, golf, drinks, etc. I believe that there are also a number of sports clubs within PwC, e.g., football, although this depends on the office you are in. When you join you are allocated to a social group. Also, socials are arranged within individual teams.
