    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship surpassed my expectations completely. I was an incredible experience and allowed me to make some very important choices about my future career choice. As an intern, I felt part of the company entirely, given that I was performing work that company employees were also doing and getting feedback on it. Interns are given a lot of responsability from day one, which pushed me to develop professionally and personally, as well as to learn more about my strengths and weaknesses.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was extremely helpful. No matter how busy they were, my colleagues were constantly encouraging me to ask them questions and, when I did, they took time to explain things in detail. Everyone treated me as if I was already working at PwC, making an effort to help out when I needed them to. The focus on feedback is also very good because people will constantly let you know how you are doing and encourage you to work on developing your strengths, as opposed to dwelling on small mistakes that are inevitable for an intern to make.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The feedback system ensured getting feedback for every job performed. This was very helpful in giving me guidance as to what goals I had to work towards. My People Manager helped me set out my objectives during the internship which was also helpful in understanding what was expected of me and what I should focus on achieving.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When on client site, I was busy at all times, often staying longer than work hours and sometimes having to commute. This really prepared me for a busy work life, but it also allowed me to see that working long hours is not as hard when you enjoy what you are doing and are constantly learning. In the office, the work load was much lower and I proactively asked around the office for tasks that I could help people work on. There was always something I could do and I was surprised to see that my colleagues made an effort to give me interesting tasks by taking the time to explain what I would be doing and what it was for. Whenever someone didn't have something for me to work on, they would immediately contact their colleagues to ask if they had anything for me to work on.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a high level of responsability and was given a lot of freedom in terms of deciding what would be the best course of action or how I should behave. For instance, when meeting the client, I was encouraged to interact with them and ask questions, as well as to focus more on learning than on not making small mistakes.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training I received, in terms of analysis financial reports and speaking to clients, was very helpful in putting my accounting and business knowledge into context. Being a management 西瓜视频 with accounting knowledge, I was able to understand the importance of the different topics studied in each of these areas.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was fairly relaxed in the sense that people would have a chat from time to time, but also of hard work. It was a similar environment to a library, which was very helpful in getting the work done without distractions.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organized, with client jobs for every intern to work on, shadowing opportunities and social events to which interns were always encouraged to attend.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company is extremely focused on your professional and personal development. You are in charge of your own development but the company keeps track of how you are performing through the feedback you receive on the online system, the different jobs you are working on and your attitude in the work place. We have to set our own objectives and these are overseen by our personal "People Manager", who guides us and makes sure we are on track towards achieving them.

We all tried to meet for lunch together and talk about our experiences at the office, which was helpful in contrasting my experience and making a better judgement of it.

    3/5
