The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my Summer Internship with PwC. The weeks training course at the start of the internship gives a great foundation of the coming weeks. I have been given a great deal of responsibility fromthe first day that has really helped me to get engaged in the internship, the programme is well structured to ensure you always have tasks to perform.
In my team, I always felt valued, even though I was confused at times with the new concepts, but there was always someone there willing to help and explan,. During the internship I was carrying out jobs that a first year associate would do, this not only gave a great insight into the work that would be carried out by associates, but also ensured that you were helping the team.
I was assigned a People Manager and Buddy that I could talk to if I had any issues or queries.I had regular catch up sessions with both during the internship - they made sure that I was supported the whole way through.
How busy you are depends on which team you are assigned to, I had a good balance of work -I always had something to do but was not expect to work alot of overtime.
You are given a great deal of esponsibility - after being coached by your in charge, you are left to carry out a piece of work,by yourself with the option to ask your team members for guidance.
The concepts and knowledge that I have gained from this placement will be useful for the third year of my degree (Accounting ).The skillsI have developed are skills that I am able to carry forward to any professional situations in the future. Some of the training I received whilst on my internship puts me in better position for graduate jobs as it is a great insight into what a graduate job might entail.
The Company
Although I did not spend much time in the office, I felt really welcomed whenever I was there. Everone was very friendly and were always willing to help or answer questions. There was a strong sense of teamwork in the office at all times.
The internship was well set up - we first had a three day residential induction which was a great way to meet interns from PwC offices all over the country. This was followed by a two day local office induction in order to familiarise yourself with your office and surroundings. During the next 5 weeks, the online booking system ensured you were booked to jobs throughout your internship. There was even an intern challenge for which interns all over hsd to form groups to answer a question. The internship finished with the presentations of the project - a great final way to meet interns and share expeiences.
PwC invest a lot of resources in the training and development of their interns - the resedential induction is a great proof of that. We received technical training, basic lessons in audit and accounting and had to set objectives to meet during the internship to ensure that we were developing and making the most of our time at PwC.

Extremely Appealing! After having spent six weeks here I would love to come back. The internship has given me a great insight ino what to expect from a graduate job in assurance - its showed me that it is something that I would love to do.
The Culture
Having met all the interns at our induction we were able to meet up after work for drinks together. We would also be able to talk on the firm's instant messaging system to one another and share our experiences.
Reasonably high - but can be covered by the internship salary
Proximity to London meant nightlife was good - range of places one could attend.
There were a number of social events and sports clubs to attend. From work drinks to climing the o2 regular socials were a great way to network with the staff.
