    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone is brilliant at answering questions. They tell you over and over again on the induction that there are no silly questions, and it

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the first week or so there was relatively little to do as there isn't a setschedule of work to do, you just get involved with whatever people feel you can do. It was good however as part of the intrenship there was a series of WebEx's (hour long videos about the firm and where you fit in etc.) put on especially for interns. There was also a 'Dragons' Den' online site where you had to pitch ideas anout how to improve healthcare and the other interns all comment and vote on the ideas to develop them. I think both these things helped me keep busy during the internship when there were quiet periods. After the first week, work definitely picked up and the days went faster. There were some larger pieces of work that could be done over a few days and some smaller ones that would take only an hour. So there were some lulls when there was nothing to do but PwC is a place where if you ask for work, someone will find you some. This meant that there was always the opportunity for more work once you'd bedded in.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lot of admin work to do, e.g. printing/scanning, but I didn't particularly mind this as everyone there was always willing to answer questions. There was never a time when I didn't know why I was doing what I was doing. For every piece of work I was given, even if it just ended up being printing, people would explain how what I was printing was going to be used, why they needed it, etc. The other time on my placement was spent shadowing people, E.g. sitting in on client phone calls, drafting emails for others to send to clients. Obviously that's not much resposibility, just listening/shadowing/ drafting, but it was probably the most valuable time spent. So whilst I've given this a low rating for responsability this isn't because I was just twiddling my thumbs for 6 weeks, it's just that there wasn't much technical knowledge/experience I had to help the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The Internship has been great for building confidence. No-one will shout at you for doing things wrong as everyone knows you're not gonig to know everything. Everyone is really friendly and willing to answer any questions you have about their work, life, etc. So I think working int his environment can only be good thing going even if you end uo working somewhere else.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It's really nice, everyone is very approachable even people who aren't working in the same area as you will intriduce themselves and ask about what you're doing.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The first week was induction. So the first 3 days were a residential with all the other interns starting across the UK in a hotel. All travel and accommodation was paid for and it was a lot of fun. It felt a bit like freshers all over again.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • During the placement you set objectives as to what you want to achieve. At the end you're judged on these and on your performance and may be offered a graduate role from it. A figure they told us was that 93% of people on the intrenship start a graduate role. There is also the opportunity to move line of service, office location and defer an offer for a year if you receive one.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Due to the induction being just interns you really get to know the other interns from your office as well as those from other offices. So you do see each other on a regular basis.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is quite central in Manchester so the nightlife is all pretty close.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes I was always invited to office socials, even though we'd only just joined.
