The Role
I really enjoyed the experience I was given at PwC. It was really a change from what I had thought beforehand, the staff and the team members were so welcoming that at the client site my in charge actually had to point out that I was a summer intern as they all thought I was an actual PwC staff member! The responsibility and the outlook you gain is incredible, I would really recommend it, by all means.
It may sound stupid but I had read reviews that all said 'you're a part of the team, etc', but it goes without saying and does not get mentioned enough that you are literally part of the staff here and they treat you like that! Every Friday afternoon they would all take the interns out to the pub and buy us all rounds. You are treated like an adult, no one mentions when you should have lunch or how long you take it for, you are a massive part of the team and expect you to get on with any tasks!
Very much, they were always there to help and you dont even have to go to an incharge, I spoke to random people in the office and they were always so happy to help it was comforting.
Unsurprisingly it depends on what client team you are on! I was on a client that had a year end signing off accounts and the days were packed! But I've also had days where I've had the free time to look through any of the projects PwC had given us as interns.
More responsibility than I thought, I had initially expected it to be menial tasks that were looked over a thousand and one times, but there were checked again only by my in charge so it made me feel like how a normal associate would do.
The networking, socialising and understanding that forging relationships with people is so important, regardless of what degree you do or what job you would ultimately like to go into as it prepares you for the real life working world,
The Company
The office was set in a way that was hotdesking. This way you got to know the people say either side of you and opposite you very well throughout the day/time you sat in the seat. This informal atmosphere broke down the intial awkwardness every intern (including me) would've felt first coming into the office at an almost too keen time of 8:30am for a 9am start! On the whole, very friendly and laid back. The partners had agreed on casual clothing over the course of the summer so everyone (including partners) were in the office in jeans, t-shirts, chino's.
I liked the initial office induction and the PwC welcome, it was very grand; partner and director dining, drinks every night, food and all meals paid for and the hotel was remarkable too. Later on, depending on which jobs you were allocated, some interns may not feel as if it was organised as well as they can't help out very much - due to the fact that 6 weeks is a very short amount of time to be able to pick things up and help out with!
The firm invest a hell of a lot of money into every intern for both educational purposes and the social frivolities. All the training the help give you is exceptional and very much the best training you could get given by a firm. It was geared very well by 西瓜视频 tutors so it felt almost like a college/peer learning environment with fun activities and games daily in the residential induction at the hotel. Even in the office, the amount of coaching and attention we got was unreal with being able to show us the development path of joining a prestigious firm such as PwC.

PwC are a very graduate driven company and invest massively in every grad. They help to nurture and mould their grads into high flying positions and the qualifications achieved can help you to progress to any sort of career background.
The Culture
If my above answers did not make it clear enough, the interns are treated wicked during time of the 6 weeks! We really are spoilt and we should take full advantage of that! This is my penultimate week so far and every Friday without fail there has been some sort of social activity or outing. We may be going to Ascot next week!
Pretty cheap, as the office is in the town centre, you can grab lunch on most days in any supermarket/cafe for around 拢3-拢5 depending on the level of classiness of lunch you opt for. Drinks at local bars are also pretty cheap being around similar prices too, a general night out with a few drinks at a bar wouldn't (or shouldn't!) cost more than around 拢15-20 for the average person!
Pretty good, Reading is teeming with clubs and bars, pretty much most of which we had attended at some point during the day. Most of the time we visited bars and would take advantange of the free drinks interns were so frequently offered!
Every Tuesday there was football and every Wednesday there was a cricket social that would take place against other teams in the league. With regards to social side of the firm, every Friday (at least!) there would be a group of people going for drinks or meals. My intake also had the pleasure of going to the AGM for the Reading office and it was essentially a day off! Free food, drinks and we got to speak to the partner/director team who are so much more fun than you would've thought!
