The Role
It's a great experience. Within this, it provides a really good insight both into the business and the line of service.
I feel very valued by colleagues as they each take their time to talk through both the technical knowledge behind a task, and help answer any questions I have.
You are given a lot of guidance and support, as you have a buddy and a people manager. However, you feel as though you could ask anyone questions if you have any.
I was always kept very busy, which is good because it meant that I was getting involved in real client work. It also meant that the weeks flew in!
I was given responsibility in terms of filling in for example tax computations, however within this, I knew that I wouldn't be given work for tasks outside my ability. When I didn't understand a task, it was then explained, so as I knew the responsibility I had and what was expected.
The internship has helped me to see a lot of the knowledge I have saw in textbooks at University be put into practice on real clients. I have also gained a much better understanding of the types of tax and work completed in each. Furthermore, it has helped to assist me in broadening my commercial awareness, which will in turn help with my studies.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and encouraging. Within this, everyone went out their way to introduce themselves to me and make me feel welcome. In particular the tax team which I worked within were very helpful in always offering assistance for any questions I had.
It was very organised, whereby the first 3 days were spent training at another location with all the other interns from across the UK. This was very helpful in settling any nerves with regards to the internship and meeting all the other interns and gaining a better understanding of your line of service and PwC before you began. Within the office, it was also well structured whereby I spent a number of days with each tax team, meaning I obtained a wide exposure to the different areas.
During the induction, I took part in intensive PwC technical classroom based training on tax, which was useful in the sense that I came back to the office with some tax knowledge and an understanding of some of the work I would be carrying out. At the local office, I then further recieved training on the setting of objectives and the IT system.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, as PwC is a great firm to work for whereby they really value their employees. This is illustrated by seeing how well treated and happy the employees are. PwC also have great opportunities within the firm to move about the different lines of service and gain new experiences.
The Culture
Yes, as there was a number of networks of 西瓜视频s at different levels who were very social, and invited us interns to a number of their events. Within this, I also became good friends with the other interns so we also went out.
Not too expensive.
There is such a range of different places you could go as the city is very dynamic, meaning there is a lot of things to suit most interests.
