About You
I really enjoyed my time at PwC - its a global company and I was thrilled to be spending a week with Directors and Partners at their London office. It was a novel insight into business - as usually the workload at the top of the chain is relatively sealed off from graduates and 西瓜视频s looking for work experience.
Despite being only in the firm for a week, I was given my own laptop and had my own source of work to do. Perhaps this was because the Director I was partnered with was particularly engaging. I was invited to the nights out and I was always briefed before meetings, even though I was just shadowing.
I was shadowing a Director the whole time so any questions I needed could be answered straight away.
I learnt what it is like to work in a truly global company with people from across the world. I also learned about Assurance as a sector.
The Company
The insight was a bit chaotic at the start, particularly on the first day when I was waiting for ages for someone to meet me in the lobby. Nobody had heard of the shadow a female leader scheme which made it a bit more daunting. Throughout the week, the experience was good.
The atmosphere was good - the staff were friendly and the team were really good to work with and granted me responsibility despite me only being a 西瓜视频 and only being there for a week.
I was only there for a week, so any long term investment was not really evident. However, they did spend the first morning showing us how to use the laptop system, which was different to the usual Outlook system.
The insight was useful. It perhaps gave a skewed view because it was shadowing a Director for a week - but that was the idea of the programme. I had to bare in mind that my workload, as a full time employee would be somewhat different to a Director workload.
The company culture was distinct to any other company I had worked at before. The week did give me an insight into that but once again, it was slightly skewed as I was mostly with Directors and Partners. The culture at the Associate level, I guess, would be somewhat different.
It was really useful. I enjoyed my time at PwC. I also received a graduate offer after completing my week insight.
Everything Else
The pay was good for the week.
Yes - I was invited to 2 different evenings to meet the new graduates and I met people who had come to the UK from other regions of PwC's global network.
The social events were good - I met lots of people - both young and old. I met people who were new to PwC and people who were nearly retiring from a full career at PwC. Everyone has something to say.
I heard that there were activities for people to take part in. Because I was only there for a week, I didn't find out anything particular about them.
I definitely would (and have) recommend this insight to a friend. It was a fantastic week all in all. I learnt about Assurance, Accountancy in general, and what it is like to work at a truly global firm like PwC. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Even though it is shadow a female leader, I would recommend it for both males and females.
