The Role
The PWC internship has been the most enjoyable job I have done so far.
I felt really valued by my colleagues because so much time was invested into me. Aside from the week long induction, I was assigned a 'buddy' and 'people manager', both of whom met with me on regular occasions so ensure I was settling in OK and that I had the right amount of work.
I was given lots of support, although it was not really required. If I ever had a query I felt like I could approach anyone about it, from the person who had assigned me the task to those sat nearby.
It varied. Sometimes I had lots to do and other times not so much. However there was always something to do, including watching WebEx's, completing online training or working on the Dragons Den project that interns are set.
We are given our own tasks to complete, however help and guidance was available at each step to ensure that things were done correctly.
I'm not sure the skills that I learnt will directly relate to my degree, however the chance to see what office life is like will be a real help upon starting a grad scheme!
The Company
Great. I was always invited to coffee breaks to have informal chats with everyone in the office.
It was extremely well organised, especially the induction week which I really enjoyed. As an intern I did not intially think that much provision would be made for me but I was always being accounted for.
I think they invested a lot in the induction week, however throughout the placement more could be done in terms of training. I appreciate that the induction is only 6 weeks and so not much can be taught however it would have been nice to learn more about the service line that you are working in.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, 93% of interns (in tax) are offered a position on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Definitely, informal meals and drinks were regulalry organised
In London quite high.
Good.
Yes, we were coppied into all emails so could choose which to get involved in.
