The Role
Massively - it has been an incredibly varied and insightful experience so far.
Everyone has truly gone above and beyond to make me feel at home and I have made many friends for life.
The number and diversity of support mechanisms available at every stage from day one has been second to none, from People Managers to general contacts always reaching out to check you're OK.
Inevitably as a consultant there are quieter and busy times, but there are always things to do and the firm are absolutely clear you should never feel encumbered by a large workload - if you do, speak to someone.
I haven't yet engaged directly with clients but my desk is in their office and I have done lots for them.
I do physics so consulting is not directly related, but the people skills I have developed will stand me in good stead for any future career, and I certainly have a much clearer idea of my desired career path as a consequence of the internship.
The Company
Very relaxed and laid-back, but still productive. Everyone knows each other extremely well and we are a tight-knit group.
Very well organised, from the initial three-day induction to the weekly meetings with people like your Line Manager, People Manager and Buddy.
I have been asked to complete numerous compliance and firm culture training exercises which have improved my overall understanding of what it means to work at PwC full-time.
My career path is laid out in front of me if I choose to accept a potential graduate job offer. 93% of interns did last year so I am very confident.
The Culture
Definitely - most nights I have been asked out to do something - it is more a case of turning down social engagements rather than wanting to take on any more!!
Very expensive inevitably as I both live and work in Central London - but working for PwC means food and shopping is cheaper at certain select outlets.
Excellent in every regard being in Central London - except for the cost!
For sure - although as there are so many and the firm is so large, you are actively encouraged to seek them out via PwC's internal "Spark" platform. There's unquestionably something for everyone though!
