The Role
I enjoyed my placement and I would recommend this role to everyone.
I felt very valued by my collegues as they left positive feedback to use in my self appraisal and they did send my an email thanking me for my work.
Management and supervisors were very supportive. It started from day one with training in accounting. They also provided new job opportunities to keep me occupied while at my placement.
As my placement was very deal based, this really depends. When I was on a project I did work very late; after completing a project, I found I was given time to finish of some administration tasks such as feedback forms.
At the start of the placement, I was told to put the data from the client into the recoginsed PwC format. But after a while I was told to complete analysis and write on report to clients.
The skills which I learned for excel has been a massive help; be that from shortcuts to excel functions. But the skills such as accuracy in my work and the method I should use when completing an essay is a massive boost for my degree of economics which involves adding in charts, figures and theories.
The Company
The atmosphere is very nice. No one really give much notice of what you do. I was lucky enough to be sent to other PwC offices and the best one was the Embankment Place Office in London. This office is right next to a train station and the offices are open planned with break out areas to eat lunch and take a break from my work.
Very well. From the start we were not allowed to do any work until we completed a basic training on accounting and the department specific training. Also, throughout the placement, I got to go to away days such as the newly opened Centre Parcs with all expenses paid.
Training is important in PwC as I found I used the skills I learnt in the induction course throughout the year. This does not mean there won't be any further training to participate. Online courses will be available and the senior managers were more than willing to sit down with me and go through any basic accounting problems I had.

PwC will try to keep their own employees as long as possible. So there are opportunities to move from a business placement to a full graduate scheme if you have performed well enough.
The Culture
Yes. Social side was not a problem in PwC as we did go for drink and meals.
The area is very cheap to live in compare to the rest of UK. Socialising in the area is like anywhere else in the UK. As long as you integrate yourself to the community, then you should be okay.
There is a lack of nightlife in the area but it does not mean there are other attractions. Game of Thrones is filmed in the areas near the city so you can always go out the city for some impressive photos
There are a few but PwC does not really advertise sport team within PwC unless it is a charity event. So it is important to find out by yourself you arranages the sport side of PwC.
