The Role
I have done 3 internships in total at three different firms, and I have to say the PwC internship was the best one by far. I got to travel, meet some really great people and really feel I was contributing to current work.
I felt it was really easy to talk to my colleagues, and noticed that when you showed an interest they were always willing to give you more responsibilities.
In the internship we were really encouraged to ask questions at all times, I never felt that I could not ask for help or support.
I was generally busy, which was great as it made the day go really fast. Though, there were also some days were there was not much to do, on these day you just had to show initiative and go and look for work.
During my internship I was given a range of responsibilities including helping out with the testing phase of a 6 month project and designing a presentation for partners.
During my internship, I improved my skills of working under pressure, networking and learnt a lot more about insurance. These skills will be particularly helpful as I specialise in the insurance field.
The Company
My team was always very friendly, and we had chocolate days every Friday.
The organisation was really good. We had an initial 4 days training event at a hotel, which gave us a chance to get to know the under interns and learn about our departments before we got to the office.
They put us up in a hotel for the first 4 days, where they trained us on what our department did.
National Travel
We were informed that most interns get a job with the firm after the internship, though it also depends on their performance.
The Culture
There were weekly socialising events.
It was London standard prices
It was standard for London
For three weeks of the six week internship, I was working a way from home so was put up in a hotel with other colleagues. This made socialising out of work really easy.
