Overview
I pick up tasks from more senior members of the audit, such as invoice testing in order to determine if there are any problems with the payments, but mainly making myself available to help with anything I can to try to help team member with their workload
Skills
The main skill I have learnt is to communicate my thoughts and opinions as well as to ask questions. The nature of my degree means I spend most of my time working alone which greatly helps my own problem solving skills and means I trust myself to deal with problems but the internship has taught me to ask questions to the team
Responsibilities
As audit is highly regulated all my work was required to be checked and I have not spoken to audited entities yet but I do feel valued in the team
Support & Guidance
Regularly help from colleagues sat around me as well as a week long induction with the first two days a general introduction to the business and the final three days was a introduction to auditing which helped familiarise me with the software and some of the terminology
Culture
I felt as though most people I could approach and ask for help but I mainly spoke with colleagues who were also trainees as they had more recent experience of being in my position and they were all very helpful
Your Impressions
I found it a very good insight into the world of auditing and it has helped me discover more about the things that I want to get out of my future career for which I m grateful of.
Yes
Do look into the business online and determine whether it is the right place for you eg if your values align with theirs and take your time with the application as there is a temptation to rush through the application
