Overview
On a day-to-day I help manage different programmes/initiatives internally, this can include creating spreadsheets to track budgets, creating video's to push awareness within the company. I also do a bit of website editing, posting photos and blurbs to show awareness of all the great initiatives HPE do. My role really varies day-to-day, which means it is never boring and I must always have an open mind to new ideas.
Skills
I have developed my communication style, both through the way I reach out on email and via teams meetings. But also through my presentation style and how I get my message across. I have learnt many new skills, including filming, editing, excel, budget tracking, illustrator and website building.
Responsibilities
Yes, my manger gave me a lot of responsibility early on, this included leading calls with senior employees and allowing me to use my creative ideas to change certain elements of an initiative. I feel this sense of responsibility, pushes you to be more confident and have more pride in your work.
Support & Guidance
You receive lots and lots of support and guidance. You have mentors that you meet up with monthly to check in on how you are doing, and you can also reach out to them if you ever need help. As an intern you also have the privilege of 'Development Days' 4-5 across the 13-months, these day help networking with other interns and help build soft skills. This internship is really great with support!
Culture
The culture is very strong, and everyone is very nice and will not stop to think to help you if you are in need.
Your Impressions
To a large extent, I think HPE have one of the best internship programmes, they really care about the new interns and provide so many amazing opportunities.
Yes
Be yourself during the interview process. Understand the HPE business model and make sure you have an open mind as HPE is all about transformation and growth.
