Skills
During the entire month of July, we had a chance to fully learn the role through a crossover period with the previous intern. Coming from a degree outside of marketing, this time was crucial in allowing me to ask questions freely, build my understanding, and gradually get accustomed to the corporate environment without the immediate pressure of full responsibility. Shadowing the previous intern made the transition smoother and much easier when I took over completely, as I had a solid foundation and confidence built up during that learning phase.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my internship. I independently managed LinkedIn and X accounts for the UK, Ireland, Middle East, and Africa regions, identifying and pursuing campaigns I believed would add value and implementing these strategies. Beyond my core role, I also planned and organised several office events and had the opportunity to branch out into other areas, contributing as a valuable member not only of my team but of the wider office as well.
Support & Guidance
The internship program featured structured mentoring sessions with professionals from various departments, complemented by weekly one-on-one meetings with my manager and regular one-on-one sessions with the intern program coordinators. Additional development opportunities were provided as needed. This fostered a supportive and approachable environment, encouraging open communication and enabling interns to seek guidance and advice comfortably throughout the placement.
Culture
The company culture was excellent, with numerous site-wide events and celebrations that encouraged interaction beyond immediate teams. There was a strong emphasis on charitable activities and supporting the wider community, including offering paid volunteering ( to donate to charity) days that did not deduct from annual leave. This positive and inclusive atmosphere greatly contributed to making the placement a valuable and rewarding experience.
Your Impressions
The placement significantly boosted my confidence, facilitated my personal and professional growth, and helped clarify the areas I want to pursue in the next stage of my career. It was an invaluable experience that I would highly recommend.

It鈥檚 important to understand what HPE actually does, as this is often asked and demonstrates that you have researched the company. HPE invests in potential, so lacking direct experience is not a barrier, but it鈥檚 crucial to show how you can apply your existing skills and experiences to relevant scenarios. Additionally, remember that selection is not based solely on skills - being someone the team would enjoy working with and fitting into the company culture is equally important.
