Responsibilities
Yes, on occasion. It takes time to build up trust to bite off more I suppose, but I would have liked more responsibility
Support & Guidance
A good amount of guidance and support. I worked very closely with my line manager, and had a very friendly and accommodating team meaning I always had someone to mentor me through each task I was presented with when needed. On the other hand from the company as a whole, there was a bit of confusion in terms of what's expected from me throughout the year and where I should be by the end.
Culture
The impression made to me is that the company has such a friendly and open atmosphere. It seems everybody is open to lend a hand with whatever task they can help with. I think a key part of this is due to the company's culture of growth and constant learning; it is always encouraged to be learning something and there are so many opportunities to extend your knowledge, whether it be in your professional or personal interest.
Your Impressions
Overall, I definitely did enjoy my placement. It was enriched by the people I work with and schemes such as Project Management Foundations, that allowed me to meet other project managers in their early career years (placement, grad etc.) which was particularly important given the size and slightly remote area of my office. My only constructive feedback is the lack of structure for the scheme, which probably could have aided when my work load had consistently dried up
Yes
Applications are competitive, so apply early, prepare properly for interviews. If you are successful in your application make sure to be inquisitive, not just in the first weeks but throughout the year. Nobody expects you to come in and be an expert on anything, so there's no shame in asking questions even if you think it sounds silly.
