The Role
I loved every second of it, the breadth of experience I got from my time here is invaluable
Even though I was only there for 6 weeks, I was really made to feel part of the team, and was treated with openness and respect.
No question was stupid, and the support network is great
As you are treated as a full time employee, you also have the workload of one, this makes for a challenging and rewarding experience.
You are given real work that affects clients, but you have the safety net of somebody who double checks your work. You also have all work reviewed by a senior, which is standard for everybody.
It has given me a real drive to complete my degree to a high standard and get back out into the working world!
The Company
As the office I was based in is quite small one, the atmosphere in the office was that of a family- everybody knows each other and says hi to one another. This makes for a friendly place to work, and makes settling in at first a lot easier than it might have been otherwise
The internship is set up in such a way that you are assigned to a number of different client, so that you get as broad an experience as possible. This also means you get to work for a number of different teams and meet many new people. directors are also happy for you to shadow them, though you facilitate this yourself.
The company invested very heavily in my training and development- the first three days are spent with all of the other interns nationally in Windsor, which is a great networking opportunity. During these three days you are in classes being taught by a senior associate and a manager, which I'd imagine is quite an expense for the company.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, I find out on my last day if I have been offered a job, which I'm certainly hoping I get, a sI've really enjoyed my time here. If you are made the offre, it is on the condition that you achieve a 2:1 at university, as this internship is between your second and final year.
The Culture
This was less applicable in my office as, compared to most other offices, there weren't many of us, But, despite this, we got on well, and I've developed a strong friendship with the other interns. In terms of colleagues, there are many opportunities to go out together, and these are often facilitated by the company themselves.
As my parents house was only 30 minutes drive away, I chose to commute from home, so I can't comment on this. However, as I understand it, rent is reasonable, provided you aren't too close to the office. Also, as you are near the shopping centre, you can choose whether to go to a cheaper or more expensive place.
Again, I can't comment on this as I didn't live where my office was, but there are a number of bars and clubs in the surrounding area, as well as by the shopping centre, so I'm sure there is plenty of opportunity to go out, although I'm not sure what the nightlife itself is like.
Yes, both through the company, and in the surrounding area, there are a number of different things you can get involved in. From 5-a-side with the company, to rock climbing very close to the office, the fact that you are right in the centre means there are a number of activities close by.
