The Role
I enjoyed the internship a lot! Much to learn, a lot of networking, and given real responsibility with real clients. Very busy but not too busy, so you can have a life too! Friendly atmosphere, great!
My colleagues always tried to get me involved and welcomed any questions I asked.
All good, very clear guided, I did not have one manager to follow, but almost everybody, and being proactive was the key.
It depends on the day, some days I would have 4 different tasks with competing deadlines all at once, but sometimes there were quiet days when I could do some creative work or research (usually on fridays)
Mostly the last week, I've been given real responsibility to prepare parts of the project on my own. However, from the start, you work within a team which is working on real projects, and dedicates part of the tasks to you.
Absolutely, the most valuable thing about this internship is the opportunity to see how things are done in practice, versus the purely theoretical approach in the University. Many things I did not have any knowledge of, whatsoever, but it was always useful to have some background knowledge from uni, for example of governance structure, and basic terms, and see them used in the corporate world
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere, open space, always clean. Anyone may book offices, so there is no clear hierarchy. I sat right in front of two directors, and only on week 2 I realised they were directors, because there is absolutely no feel of difference in level. Everyone is so nice and friendly!
Very well-organised, just a little too short, 8 weeks would be better in my opinion. (I had it for 6 weeks).
Absolutely, I even had a one-to one session with one of our managers explaining me some tax technical stuff. Also everybody welcomed my questions and genuinely took time to explain me anything I did not understand.

Very appealing.Great atmosphere and nice people. If only there was no dress code.... But I understand this is not what happens in these big firms, and here you get 2 months dress down in summer and dress down every friday, which is good enough for me! :)
The Culture
Very nice people, from top universities. I was the only girl thou, and 6 guys, but I would hardly say it was a bad thing. :)
I paid just over 1000 pounds for accommodation. Hard to say whether it's a lot or not. Comparing to london - no. Comparing to some other towns, like guildford, may be a bit pricey. Cost of socializing is difficult to rate, because most of the social stuff such as cinema, pubs etc. are same price all across the UK.
I do not go to nightclubs much in normal life, so I do not know anything about it to be honest. There are clubs I know, but I've not been to them and do not want to, and also I have nothing to compare them to. and the job starts at 9, plus morning gym, and most weekends I'd spend in other areas visiting friends, so it is hard to estimate.
Gym, but to be honest did not look out for much opportunities to get involved, since only 6 weeks in internship and also have ongoing study responsibilities.
