The Role
I have really enjoyed my time working with PwC! The training has been very good and so without a background in accounting, I now feel much more comfortable auditing and looking at financial statements. The people have also been very approachable and kind to help me develop my own skills and learn more.
I felt very early on that I was accepted as a helpful team member rather than a hindrance. This obviously developed further the longer that I was part of the team but colleagues were always grateful for any work I completed and understanding if I needed to ask questions. Overall a very nice atmosphere in the team.
I was given a lot of support by my in-charge especially. Above this, the manager also kept a keen eye on the work I was performing to ensure I knew what I was doing and was happy with the quality of work expected of me. They also really helped to guide me through new challenges and ensured I was comfortable with it before giving me the responsibility to complete it independently.
I have been very busy throughout my time with PwC. This has involved working with different levels of management across different jobs, with different teams at different client offices! Each job brings with it new challenges and you will always be kept on your toes with work to do but not too much that you can鈥檛 have a social life by any means.
I was very much looking forward to taking on responsibilities and so was happy to take on as much as possible. This varied from ownership over my separate work tasks to communicating directly with clients in person, over the phone and by email. Managers were also well aware of my position and did often check if I was okay with what had been delegated to me.
I have learnt many new skills during the course of my internship which will help me going forward. Skills ranging from how to interact better with clients, hope to be good at using excel and how to be naturally inquisitive in a professional manner are all new skills I have been taught during my time here.
The Company
The internship has been very well organised. It started with a 3 day general induction at a hotel followed by two days more induction at our regional office to get us up to speed and ready to be put onto a client site. We were then allocated various client jobs throughout our internship to try and give us a diverse set of client exposure.
National Travel
I am very much looking forward to returning to PwC if they hopefully offer me a graduate job. It鈥檚 a place that I鈥檇 be very happy to spend a further 3 years working and they really seem to value the ACA training that graduates receive, making sure to understand the priority of exams over workload in the short term.
The Culture
From what I understood the office is very socially active although there were no actual events during my time at the office. Annual social activities I heard about that sounded good though were the Summer Ball, a football tour to Budapest and various social excursions within the teams of the office.
