The Role
The internship was challenging at times but very enjoyable. I worked with different teams and met a lot of people. Everyone was willing to help interns out and there was a lot of support in place for us.
Considering the internship is only 6 weeks long I did feel valued by my colleagues. PwC got all the interns doing real work to help the audit move forward. I often got told how helpful the work I was doing was and let the more senior team members focus on other work helping with time pressures.
The whole team was very helpful - I felt able to ask questions and knew they would do their best to help me understand / sort the problem.
This varied daily - the first week I found was not busy at all and I did get a bit bored, however I then changed clients and found that whenever I needed more work lots of people had some!
I felt like I was given a lot of responsibility considering I was an intern. I was able to see tasks through from beginning to end and got feedback on these when complete.
I gained many skills on the internship - especially working with excel.
The Company
Everyone works incredibly hard at PwC, however the team was very friendly and it felt very relaxed.
The structure is set up well, however there were a couple of weeks where I had to find my own team to work with as resourcing hadn't put me anywhere.
The firm expects interns to receive a grad offer at the end of the placement. Therefore a lot of resources are put into training etc. We went on a residential for 3 nights for a training programme, and had a further 2 days in office training.
National Travel
PwC intend to offer grad jobs to interns - I do not find out if I get offered a job for another 2 days.
The Culture
N/A - only 3 interns in the office
Southampton is about average for the south
N/A
N/A - I wasn't here long enough to get involved in the company activities although they do schedule these such as a netball/ football team and team building days.
