The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, as everyday I was kept busy but with interesting assignments. I was given a lot freedom to approach the tasks, and as long as I got the assigned tasks completed by the agreed time and standard, my boss didn't have a problem with how I did it
Everyone in my team here made me feel like an integral part of the team. I was given assignments and worked alongside other full time employees so I was actively contributing to the project. I was respected as a full time employee, not as 'an intern', and i hope to keep in touch with many of my colleagues after my internship.
Over the course of the 6 week internship, I was given a lot of help and guidance when I needed it. I was trusted to do the work by myself, but I was encouraged to ask any questions I had regarding anything - and everyone was more than happy to answer any questions.
During the 6 weeks I was here, I was pretty much busy everyday. There were some days when there was not much work to do, but my team made the effort to go out and find work for me so that I had something to do. I was never assigned too much work or too little work.
I got really involved with a project here and as a result, I gained a lot of knowledge for the project, and I was given more and more responsibilities - to the extent employees were coming to me and asking ME for information! But I was never given responsibility that I couldn't handle.
I learnt a lot about time management, team work and productivity in the last 6 weeks I've been here. I learnt to use a lot of new software - some of which I intend to use in my degree! I also learnt that working hard isn't working long - I always got my work done and left work on time!
The Company
The office I worked in had a really fun atmosphere. It was calm and relaxed and everyone got along with anyone. Everyone was treated equally - Partners, Directors, Managers, were treated the same as Associates and Interns. It was really nice and made me feel less intimidated. you could approach anyone at any time for a general chat or help.
I would love to work for the PwC if I get the chance. Over the course of the 6 weeks, I really integrated into the culture of the company and office and made some really good friends - all while still producing the work I was assigned. I would love to come back and carry on the work I was doing.
The Culture
Every Friday, the interns (and other staff members) all went out for drinks. It was a nice way to catch up with people that weren't in office or you couldn't catch up with during the week. There are also sport socials for those who like it - I got involved with squash and badminton. There is a central canteen, where most if not all employees grab lunch and eat together.
Living in Central London is expensive. I had to pay for the Tube and my accommodation which really did add up. On top of that, due to my own personal time management, I never had the time to make lunch before I arrive to work, so lunch costs also added up.
