The Role
The internship provided a challenging task, which allowed me to gain a better understanding of the job requirements and responsibilities i'll be taking on if I choose PwC as a graduate employer
The colleagues around me always treated me with respect and were always appreciative when I offered my help and support to them.
There was constant support provided, from the 3 day induction residential to the day-to-day help provided by the team. I never felt lost in the work I was doing
There was always work to be completed and when you finished everything, there was always another member of the team that was available to offer you more.
From the start I was given a lot of responsibility, as the work I was completing was genuine audit work, looking at client data and making judgements on what I was doing.
The skills developed and the mentality developed over these 6 weeks will help me to motivate myself to aim for success in my final year of studies.
The Company
The atmosphere in the workplace was a fun yet professional one, with opportunities to socialise and also time to concentrate on work.
The placement was well organised throughout, but at times on client sites there were instances when there was a lack of work for an inexperienced intern to get on with.
The company set up a 3 day residential aimed at training us to the PwC standards, as well as devoting 2 days in the office to the same task.
The prospects are good, as there are clear routes for progression and development within the company.
The Culture
As there were only 3 of us in the office, there wasnt much opportunity for a large social scene amongst us.
Cost of living and socialisation in Southampton is reasonable, as it is still a city but not as expensive as London etc.
N/A
In the time I was here there wasnt much opportunity to get involved, but from my understanding there are a lot of sports clubs within the office.
