The Role
We were trained well and I was given a good insight into the company. Training included a residential portion for a week, where we were put up in a very nice hotel with all the other interns across the country. The office was very nice and modern, with a very good location. The team were very nice and welcoming.
I was given work straight away and put in charge of projects. We were all allocated work and were responsible for getting that work done. The team were very helpful and were always available when I asked. They made sure to invite me out regularly for lunch to make me feel as part of the team. I felt valued as they would give good feedback and let me know when I produced high quality work.
I was given a buddy when I joined who was responsible for helping me out when I needed it. I also had a manager who I could ask. Even though we were allocated people to help all members of the team were helpful and I felt that I could ask anyone should I have an issue or need help.
This varied based on the day, sometimes we were super busy with several projects whereas other days there was less work. It just depends on the day and the work that's available. It also sometimes depended on who needed help, if everyone was busy then there may be less to do but there was always something if you looked for it.
I was given a good level of responsibility, I had projects that I was solely responsible for and others where I worked with a senior team member. I always had someone to overlook my work before it was issued so I was never worried about whether the work was up to scratch.
As I have not returned to university yet I cannot say how it has helped. I believe the skills I have learnt will be very useful in the future as a lot of what I learnt is about a problem solving mindset and learning how to tackle problems. However, as my degree and the job are not related there will be little knowledge cross over.
The Company
The office was very nice and modern. It was a hot desking office so you sat somewhere different everyday. This was more difficult if you were working in a team as you may not be around the people you were working with. Some of us would try and sit in the same place everyday but it didnt always work.
The assurance internship was very well organised. Technology was less organised. We had an initial induction for a week then a few of us had additional training days. There was a good level of training for a 6 week internship. The internship had a mixed range of structure depending on your departments and the jobs you were booked onto.
The company spent a lot of money training the interns and making sure to make a good impression. We were is anything over trained in the first week, we were trained as if complete beginners to working which was good for those who were. We were also invited to alot of events and training even if it was expensive.

The Culture
There were alot of interns hired for the intake. We all went out regularly and ate lunch together regularly. We ended up having a standard place to go every friday but were often invited to other places with the team and different people for other drinks. We were invited to company parties and would go together.
Its London, so as expected.
