The Role
I felt I learnt a lot and it was a valuable experience.
My colleagues consistent told me the value I was adding to their projects, and that they were very appreciative that I was on their team.
I had an extremely helpful mentor who guided me through tasks initially and then provided me with help when I needed it later on. I found managers were also very available for help and to answer any questions when you needed it.
Occasionally felt I didn't have much to do, but then I could either fill my time doing an e-learn or I would actively seek more tasks to do, either on my existing projects, or helping out someone else. It was easy to do this.
The level of responsibility given to me felt perfect for an intern. I was doing the exact same work as my mentor who is senior to me, and the work I did was used in deliverables for clients with very little, if any, adjustments. I didn't have to participate in external meetings, but I would participate in internal meetings, and I helped to put together slide decks for presentations.
I have learnt valuable life skills, especially communication, but also professionalism, and I have also learnt how to carry out tasks in a meticulous way, and that documentation is very important in business.
The Company
I didn't get to be involved in many socials, but the general atmosphere in the office was welcoming and friendly, and people seem to make good friends there. No one was too important to talk to anyone, it's very open, and occasionally there would be food and drinks out in the office area for socialising.
As I'm on a fairly new internship within technology, many people (including my people manager) didn't seem to know what it was. This meant that a few parts of the internship didn't seem very tailored to 'Digital Trust' but I was told of plans to further clarify the structure with the Technology department and it seems very important to PwC. I think sometimes there were conflicting communications about what we're expected to do, e.g. the last day, and I never got added to the correct social group so I missed out on some socials, but other than that, it was well organised.
We spent 3 days in training offsite initially, and a further day in IT training offsite later on. I think they invest a lot in their interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
I have been offered a graduate job and I would be very happy to work for PwC on a permanent basis. They made me feel very valued and welcomed, and I would like to be a part of the great work culture and community.
The Culture
Occasional after work drinks, didn't really see that much of other interns as many were in the other office.
It's central London so obviously very expensive. Cool location though!
Again, it's central London so of course the nightlife is good. We were next to Tower Bridge where there was a summer festival happening so there were often events happening.
There were sports days and cultural events.
