The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, it was a great experience to learn more about assurance, audit work, but also about other lines of service at PwC. I have had a chance to talk with people from Forensics, Deals, Consulting and Cyber. It was all very helpful to be able to make my mind about how much I like the company and job.
I feel very much valued by my colleagues, everyone was super friendly and made me feel very relaxed and included. I also got job responsibilities from the beginning and I felt even though I did not have much experience, my colleagues took time to explain everything and values my inputs and hard work I put into every task.
The support by the management was very extensive and well managed. I always felt I can rely on my people manager and he was there for me to ask any questions I might have. I also had a buddy, with whom I did not communicate as much but I know she was there for me when I needed her. It was just difficult for me as well as she went for a holiday during my internship.
During some days, I was extremely busy, because I managed to see one of my jobs towards the signing, but some days were also less busy so that I had time to do e learns and also for some meetings and shadowing so it was great. I would say it was a great balance and showed me the real pace at PwC as it can vary.
I was given a lot of responsibility, I was dealing directly with the client on the client site, asking them questions, as well as communicating with the clients abroad. It was a great experience which has taught me how to communicate professionally and also take responsibility for my actions. I also completed most of the EGAs independently after being coached, so I felt good they gave me their trust.
I have learnt to be more proactive and independent when working, which I believe will help me a lot in my degree study. Even though I study a different discipline to accounting, in Biomedical sciences my critical thinking developed during the internship. The other skills I improved on is team working and speaking up for myself, as public speaking was always very difficult for me.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very nice, everyone was so friendly and always very approachable. I felt like everyone can start speaking to anyone, not depending on the level. The office is also very open about sitting plane and the design is very creative, making it a very pleasant place to work in.
It was organised very well, I really like the structure of the internship. The first three days were great to meet people and also the other interns from the office in a different environment. Then I also appreciated that we had a couple of day of introduction in the office and the rest of the weeks were filled with various client work, it was great.
I feel they did invest a lot, we had three training days to learn the basics of accounting, which was very useful and then it continued with e learns. E learns were nice as well as I did not have that much knowledge about those topics. I also appreciate that I was given opportunities to shadow and learn about other lines of service at PwC.

National Travel
The future employment prospects within the organisation are very appealing. I have been offered a graduate role which I am very happy about. I might try to transfer into cyber line of service within the same office, so hopefully I will be successful. If I got the graduate job there it would be the most appealing to me.
The Culture
It was great, there was an amazing social scene amongst our fellow interns. It all started when we travelled down to London together. Ever since then, we became great friends a did a lot of socializing such as common lunches, parties and drinks. I think we were a big support for each other.
It was pretty pricey to go for food and drinks, but I guess it was still cheaper than in London. But still we did not go out much as it was expensive, we would rather bring packed lunches.
It was good, but as many people commuted from different cities, we did not go out into a club as it would make it difficult for them to get home afterwards. We had one socializing party and went to a pub once, but apart from that, we did not experience any nightlife in the city.
There were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, there were some sport clubs, such as football or volleyball and also others. Apart from that, our colleagues invited us for drinks once as well. There was also an office barbecue at the first Friday of our internship which was very nice.
