The Role
I would say that it was a fairly good experience, I really enjoyed the company itself, PwC striked me as a good company to work for. I didn't feel overly challenged though, and whilst I now have an improved understanding of a company's financial reporting this could have been achieved through a 10 hour intensive course.
Both interns and superiors were extremely welcoming and helpful, it is true that people make PwC
They took the time to give a hand even when they were very busy!
I would have liked to be a bit more busy - however, the summer is fairly quiet in audit work so it is understandable
This hugely depended on the client. For some of them I was doing more important and challenging work, for others it was more of a copy-paste/screenshot task. In a way I didn't feel a lot of responsibility because everything is thoroughly reviewed.
I think it was particularly helpful in the context of seeing first hand how it is to work on a professional environment. I think that I didn't particularly develop my technical capabilities - my soft skills did improve though.
The Company
Great atmosphere, great people, productive but relaxed.
I think they did a pretty good job, all considered.
Not that much but we are only here for 6 weeks! And one full week was learning and training, you also got access to all of the learning online resources for your line of service.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I would definitely recommend the company, just the line of service (Assurance) wasn't for me.
The Culture
Pretty good, nothing really special. We got on and did stuff on Fridays after work.
Pretty good value, especially compared to London. I do think that I spent around 550 a month although I did eat out a lot for lunch and had quite expensive week-ends.
N/A - I haven't really gone out in Edinburgh.
There was 5 a-side football and yoga - not much else going on during the summer months
