    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship with PwC. From the first day I was welcomed into the team and treated as an equal. I was appointed a People Manager who was very supportive as well as a Buddy who was willing to answer any questions which I was too nervous to ask others. I worked on three separate jobs, all of which taught me different things about the job.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues as they treated me as an equal. They were always willing to answer all my questions even if it was a question I had already asked previously. Also, my colleagues provided me with actual audit work to do rather than menial tasks which made me feel very valued as they trusted me enough to carry out actual audit work.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was provided by a number of different people. First of all, I was allocated a Buddy who was willing and able to answer any of my questions. This helped a lot at the start of my internship as my Buddy help welcome me into the team by introducing me to people and telling me things about the firm. Also, my People Manager was very supportive, checking how I was getting on at regular intervals and making sure I had all the information I needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy a lot of the time, however I would view this as a positive as it meant I always had something to do and wasn't just sitting around with nothing to do. By providing me with actual audit work, the team ensured I always had something to be getting on with which meant I was always learning new things as I was experiencing different parts of an audit.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Perhaps the best part of the internship was the responsibility I was given. On each of the jobs I worked on I was given actual audit work to do which meant I was responsible for completing work for a client. This responsibility motivated me to work as hard as possible as I knew I was doing real, important work and not just doing admin.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed will help me in all aspects of my degree and also my everyday life. My time management skills have developed a lot as I now know how long it takes me to complete certain tasks. Also, I have learnt not to take on too many tasks at the same time as this can lead to confusion or failure to complete some of the tasks. Also, my teamwork skills have improved noticeably as I had to work in various teams throughout my internship, of varying size and experience level.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was professional, but not too professional as there was a lighthearted atmosphere. Even when deadlines were approaching and therefore stress levels were higher, there was still a sense of fun around the office with people making jokes and listening to music to alleviate any deadline-tension

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The set up of the internship was great as it allowed me to experience a number of different roles within the firm. One of the days of the internship was spent shadowing a Director and this gave me a great insight as to what directors do in their day-to-day jobs. Also, the initial training days were very useful as they taught me about the various software used by the company and also the way things are done such as filling in timesheets and expenses, etc.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot of time in making sure I was sufficiently trained and the training carried on throughout my entire internship. Every day I was able to ask questions and although this isn't officially classified as training, I was learning something new everyday from people answering my questions.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are really attractive as the company offers a graduate role to anyone who has been successful during their internship. This is a great opportunity as it allows anyone who enjoyed their internship to come back to the company after university and pick up from where they left off, having had a positive experience with the company already.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The social scene of the company was great as there were officially arranged social events such as an Away Day and Sports Day and also smaller social nights out where everyone would meet after work on Fridays to socialise and get to know each other better. Also, the office environment was very sociable as it's very open and working in different teams each week meant I was meeting new people.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I already lived in the area in which I was working the cost of living and socialising was no surprise to me. The area surrounding the office had loads of choice and nothing is too expensive.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As above, the Nightlife was no surprise to me, having lived near to where I was working all my life. However, I would still say the Nightlife in Leeds is one of the best in the country. There are many places to go to meet and nothing is too expensive.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were several ways in which I could get involved in activities outside of work. For example, the Sports Day was open to all interns and no sport was reserved for full time workers. This helped me feel very welcome on the team as I was on football teams with people of all experience levels and ages.
