    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I relatively enjoyed my internship; a common phrase I've heard is 'the best part of PwCis the people', and whilst I'd have to agree with this, I would question whether this is not due to the fact the work isn't all that interesting and so the people become the best part of the job by default.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt reasonably valued by my colleagues. Most talked to me and had a bit of a laugh with me, though this was usually only during a lunch break - I found it was a bit quiet working in either a client office or the pwc office. It would be better if there was just a little more chit chat to break up the work.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I had a question, people were always happy to answer them. They understood that we didn't really have too much knowledge about audit (though they often assumed we knew a lot about accounting - if you didn't do an accountancy and finance degree (I didn't), don't be afraid to tell them you don't understand).

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I personally had some problems with the Resourcing department (from what I've heard this is a common occurrence for most people at PwC) but fortunately I had an incharge who managed to book me onto little jobs here and there to keep me busy. So I generally had work to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a bit of responsibility - within my team we had a spreadsheet with all the things we needed to do on. I had to complete EGAs - albeit some fairly simple ones such as Lead Schedules, but I also had some fairly complicated ones. As such I felt like one of the team.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I do not think the training will have any real impact on my degree, but I've learned a lot of IT skills, particularly on excel, and these are bound to come in useful in later life. Also it gave me a real insight into what working in an office environment is like.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was a little too quiet in the office. It's been said that people feel they can't eat a packet of crisps because they'd be making too much noise whilst eating them. There was also a feeling that you couldn't leave at 5.30 because everyone else tended to stay later.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I thought the placement was fairly well organised, especially the 3 day induction at Beaumont House in Old Windsor. However, it often felt like we were being kept in the dark about information - we were often only told useful information at the last minute. The actual interview process was very well organised.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It would be fair to say that PwC is a well thought of company, which is always going to be appealing in terms of future employment prospects. I do find that the long hours expected of you, especially in busy season, are a bit of a turn off. Especially given that no overtime is paid for your work - it's just simply expected that you'll work late.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • This is more of a problem for full time workers, but rent prices in Cambridge are almost the same as in London, yet it sounds like the salary doesn't reflect this. There's also a high cost of living in Cambridge which adds to this. It seems a little unfair that Partners can make 拢800k a year whilst people at more junior levels struggle to buy houses etc.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
