    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was great to work at PwC over this summer. The work was interesting and colleagues made a real effort to involve the interns in whatever they were doing. People took time to go through not only how to complete tasks but why they were relevant in the wider context of the business.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The colleagues I worked with during the placement were the best part of it. They were always friendly, approachable and good fun. People made sure they gave you insightful, positive feedback at all times and were always encouraging. It was recognised when you had done a good job on something, which is always valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance received was good. When you asked for help people took time out in order to coach you through what needed to be done. At times if you were working with a team that was very busy then you had to wait a while before someone would get back to you with coaching. However the guidance and feedback would always come through, just sometimes after a short wait.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Working hours varied depending on the client that you were working on. Some clients would have a very large workload and therefore required more work doing. However, people were always on hand to help you manage your workload if it was too great or too little. If you are proactive, you can find lots of really interesting work that keeps you well occupied.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good amount of responsibility. Clearly there was a limit to what I could do, given I had no formal experience or qualification in the job. However, where senior colleagues felt it was appropriate I would be given work to do that was above my level of experience. The challenge of this added responsibility was great fun and something that I valued a large amount.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study a scientific degree which does not have a lot of specific crossover with accounting and finance. However there are certain transferable skills which I developed. One example was a good affinity for a wide range of tasks in excel which will be very useful. As well as this, things such as exposure to discussing ideas with senior management and other such responsibilities will be of great help.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was always positive. People were always friendly and approachable. As well as this everyone was good fun to work with. You could always have a good joke with whoever you happened to be working with. This friendly and fun atmosphere made it much easier to work late with colleagues and put in extra hours when necessary.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship overall was very well organised. You always knew where you were supposed to be and when. Staff and colleagues had clearly put a lot of thought into the schedule of the internship and how interns could gain the most from it. At the start there was a slight issue with allocations of client work being delayed meaning some interns were left without work, however this was quickly resolved.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a large amount into training and development. The first week of the internship was spent on training and development in order to allow us to get started on work quickly and efficiently. Three days of the training was spent off site in Windsor where we were accommodated in a hotel. This was greatly enjoyable and very useful. The training is fantastic overall.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are very appealing. The graduate programme at the firm appears to be excellent and all graduates who I spoke to, spoke very highly of it. It is clearly a very well organised firm that treats its graduate employees well, making future job prospects a great option. I look forward to returning to work at the firm and carrying on my career here.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The social scene was excellent. We were invited to company socials within our business unit such as their annual summer ball and sports day, alongside other social events. This helped us to quickly integrate into the firm and immediately feel comfortable. In addition to this, other interns were always keen to do things after work socially such as friday drinks. This made a big difference

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked in central London which is very expensive. Rent and food are very expensive in most areas of London. This often makes it prohibitively expensive to live in the area, resulting in many people having to live in other areas and commute in. However, employees at the firm are well remunerated, somewhat easing the burden of living expenses.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/A - Did not explore the nightlife

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are many activities that interns are able to get involved with throughout the course of the placement. Any social events they are always welcome to attend. In addition to this, if they are willing to be proactive and ask about opportunities then there are endless things that people can get involved with outside of work. It is a firm with a huge amount going on.
