The Role
I very much enjoyed the internship
I felt extremely valued as I was given tasks that were actually useful in the engagement, and feedback was given on each job to ensure I was getting as much from the experience as possible.
I was given a lot of support, but it was also integral to be challenged and try to work things out for myself and not be spoon-fed. The coaching was excellent.
It depended on the client you were working on. It varied from extremely busy (overtime), to asking around to help with anyone else's work.
I was responsible for the areas that I was given as no one was going to do the work for me. This included sourcing the information required and speaking to clients. The work was then reviewed by a senior member of staff.
The work performed during this internship will give a practical application to a primarily theoretical degree. If I am to be successful in receiving a job offer from PwC after graduation, the skills developed on the internship should mean a smoother transition into the firm.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxed, but focused. The hot-desking meant that people of all levels in the firm were sitting next to each other which was a great way to break down the hierarchy of business. Everyone was extremely friendly which made it easier to approach people for assistance or guidance.
Overall the internship seemed to run very smoothly as we were already assigned to clients before we arrived and the teams were aware that they would receive interns. The induction week was very informative and fun.
We had an induction week where the firm taught us about their culture and the skills we would need, before trying to develop these skills in the form of classes and exercises. The on the job training received was great as everyone had been in this situation before which meant that no one was angry about explaining things further.
