    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I came into my internship thinking it's a job, not expecting to love every minute of it but to learn a bit about auditing and working in a big corporate company. I have come away not really wanting to leave - I had a great time, learnt a lot and did not expect to enjoy myself so much and to have met so many great people (both other interns and current employees).

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The office had such a friendly atmosphere, everyone I met was so nice and helpful, all up the levels. I was thanked for everything I did, from small tasks to large ones. PwC also ensured we all got thorough feedback for all the work we did. I never felt like a spare part, which was slightly what I was expecting.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • When I joined PwC for the internship, we were repeatedly told that "no question is a stupid question" and I found this to be very very true. No matter how small or unimportant the question, I always received more than a full answer, even if my in-charge was really busy! Everyone was so helpful, all team members not just those in charge of me. I also had a buddy, who was so nice and also really helpful. As well as my people manager, who was also really nice, really approachable and helped me a lot with thinking about future career directions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy I was depended on the client I was working on but if ever there was a slow time in my day, I could work on the internship one project - dragons den challenge - or do e-learns. So there was always something to keep busy with. Whenever I was not busy I also knew that members on my team were searching hard for interesting things for me to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In all the jobs that I worked on I worked independently but I always knew that there was help on hand if I needed it. How much responsibility I felt depended on the job, however I always felt that I had enough and never felt too far out of my depth!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I came in knowing nothing about audit or assurance, after 6 weeks I feel like I have more than just a basic grasp, understand how to use PwC software and actually a better understanding of how business works. I also improved my computer and communication skills, especially through the dragons den project.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere! I always looked forward to coming to work in the mornings, something I wasn’t expecting. Everyone was so friendly and I enjoyed myself on all the jobs I worked on! The people at PwC were by far the greatest feature, I hope I can work with everyone again soon! Although a fun a friendly atmosphere, it still remained professional.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 90% of the time I knew exactly what I was meant to do and for the other 10%, there was always someone close at hand to help or point me in the right direction. We had a whole week at the start of training and guidance, which was really helpful for organisation throughout the internship that followed.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a week of induction, partly at a hotel with all the UK interns and partly at our home office. This was great, not only did we get to network outside our office but when we arrived at our home office I felt a lot more comfortable. We were also given basic training which was invaluable, especially for those without an accountancy background. I felt like the firm invested a lot in me and if I return for a graduate scheme I will feel much more comfortable with the auditing process and PwC software.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I honestly don’t want to leave! Even though I have only been here for 6 weeks, I really feel part of the team. If I could start work here and now I would! PwC is such a great company and the people who work here are so great! I couldn’t recommend it enough!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • I got on so well with all my fellow interns and colleagues – I think I have made friends for life! We had work drinks and meals out while on the internship. The interns ourselves spent lots of time outside the office together too.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living was not too bad, a lot more affordable then London. Lots of places to socialise.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/a

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The interns were very sociable outside of the work place and there were opportunities to socialise with other PwC colleagues outside the office too. For example, through joining sports teams.
