The Role
Overall, the internship was a good experience and I would recommend PwC summer internship to anybody who is interested in the professional services sector.
The people at PwC is what makes it a great working place. Most of the people I've worked with were friendly, approachable and supportive throughout the internship. PwC is very welcoming and has an inclusive environment.
Yes, I did feel i was given sufficient support. You are assigned a buddy and people manager from day 1. There is also a New Joiners Committee at the office I work which provided further support. The training was good and equipped us well for the job. Also, my in-charges were always around to help and answer any questions.
The work varied each day; some days more exciting than the others. While you are given tasks to do and targets to meet, the interns are encouraged to leave the office at 5:30 each day. Some of us did stay back a few days for an hour or so after 5:30 to get our work done, but that is a personal choice.
As mentioned earlier, each day is slightly different. Tasks varied from proofreading documents to performing audit tests. You are given a fair bit of responsibility and your contribution is valued. Most of the task assigned to me were within my capabilities and a few were challenging. However, my in-charges have always helped me solve any problems I've encountered and helped me learn from the tasks.
I do a degree in Accounting and Finance so most of the work I did on a day-to-day basis was relevant to my degree subjects. The internship definitely gave me a practical insight into accountancy and finance.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is relaxed, but professional at all times. The office has a hot desking policy and multiple meeting rooms so you won't be stuck at one desk. There are couple of zones for employees to talk, have lunch and play a game of ping pong!
The internship was well organised. The residential training and induction sessions were well planned. All of the resourcing, calendar, e-learns, etc are all carried out online and you can always reach out to the people in-charge if you face issues. There is also a New Joiners Committee in the office that helps the new joiners settle in and also organised a few events. You are also allocated a buddy and people manager to help you out.
There were three days of residential training at the start of the internship which gave us a good insight into accountancy, PwC and our lines of service. There was also a local office induction and various e-learns to help us out (especially useful to those without an accounting/finance background). Besides that your in-charges and other colleagues are always willing to help you out.

The internship is essentially an extended interview and you will be assessed through constant feedback throughout the internship. Many of the interns get offered graduate roles at the end. Also, there's good flexibility and you can ask for a fast track transfer to a different office or line of service if you'd like.
The Culture
The were quite a few social activities organised during the residential training and local induction to get to know the other interns. Also, the interns usually catch up for lunch, a coffee or a game of ping pong etc. Also, there are a few social/informative events in the office that you can take part in.
Reading is a good twon- affordable, well connected and not too far away from London/Oxford/Bristol/Birmingham etc. The office is located in an ideal place with close proximity to the train station and high street.
Plenty. The office has committees and societies for sports, welfare, charities and other activities that you can get involved in. Also, there are other one-off and weekly events organised such as sports days, tournaments, tech days, volunteering days, etc that you can sign up for.
