About You
I enjoyed my placement at PwC a lot since some part of my relatives have worked their over the course of their lives and it is one of the largest auditing companies in the world. Everybody was friendly and the work environment was – despite PwC’s rather conservative nature – quite relaxed.
I felt really valued in my internship since everybody was quite friendly and helped me along with most of my tasks. Nobody was ever mad at me even when I did a major mistake. People were even keen on networking with me and invited me for lunch. Besides, my work was appreciated and my research was actually used as the basis for others.
During my internship, I received a lot of guidance. I had a lot of time to talk to my contact persons which would always be helpful and even provide more insights than required. I was allowed to approach high-level managers as well which is what I did on a regular basis in order to get personal questions answered.
The skills I gained will help me a lot during my studies, especially since I want to specialise in accounting and taxation. I am sure I will have an edge over those who did not complete such an internship. Besides, you should not forget the value that lies in having found your passion. Without my placement at PwC I would still not know what to do later in my career.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. At first, me and the other interns were introduced everybody and the facilities were showed to us. Afterwards, we enjoyed regular sessions with our contact persons and various events were organised for the interns. Also within my project, my supervisor communicated clear expectations and goals.
I think the atmosphere was quite pleasant. Everyone was friendly and my fellow colleagues were all very open to network and to get to know each other. This made the few days more chill and gave everyone the chance to give their best without being ashamed to make a mistake.
The internship put great emphasis on self-development and after my few days at PwC I can definitely say that I have grown as an individual. I became more confident and worked on my soft skills which not only be helpful for my degree but also my personal life. The activities were specifically tailored to gain a great feel what it would be like to work at the company.
It helped me a lot to decide about what I want to do later in life. I was very unsure about where life would take me but this internship gave me direction. I know now what it is like to work for a big company that is prestigious and all the benefits you’ll get when you are an employee there.
The Insight Programme at PwC was very beneficial and showed me what it would be like to work there. The atmosphere was professional yet laid-back and everyone seemed to love what they are doing. Especially the chats with employees and managers were helpful to get a feel of what employees actually think about working at PwC.
Everything Else
I would really recommend this internship to anyone who thought about a career in accountancy. It will give you a great understanding of the industry and what it is like to work there. For anyone who is interested in another career path will not find this insight helpful and a waste of time.
