    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my week insight at Pwc on their women in business programme. I completed an induction on my first day in their main office and was sent straight out to client sites that afternoon. I got to spend time with two audit teams who were working with very different clients, this allowed me to see a broad scope of what the auditors do day to day both on junior and senior levels.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • When at Pwc I felt very valued and the audit teams I worked with made me feel welcome. They found work that I could help with while I was there so that I could contribute to the work they were doing. This had the added benefit of providing some hands on experience in audit.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everybody who I worked with during my week were incredibly helpful. They didn't mind taking time to walk me through any work that I was doing or answer any of my questions. Not only that but people who I had worked with or met early on in the week then checked in with me later in the week to see if everything was going ok.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I study Accounting and Finance seeing it in practice now gives me a fuller understanding of how what I'm studying will apply to real scenarios. It also made me work in unfamiliar scenarios with different groups of people pushing me out of my comfort zone. Equally the induction and interview stages provide an insight and some helpful tips for future interviews and applications.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The women in business programme is designed for you to shadow a partner or director at the firm. It therefore depends entirely who you are shadowing what you will do during the week and what they organise for you to do during the week. My week was fairly flexible but that worked best for me as it allowed me to choose whether I spent more time on client site with audit teams or in the main office.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. Everyone was interested in what scheme I was doing, any future plans I had and more than willing to talk about their own experiences at Pwc. This was great because I didn't at anytime feel like I was a burden or irritating, in fact they all seemed glad I was there and excited to talk to me about my potential future at Pwc.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 0/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • During the week I spent the majority of my time with audit teams and got a lot of advice from associates who are going through the stages that I would be if I joined the firm as a graduate. It was therefore very helpful as a got a full insight into what it is like to work as an associate at Pwc.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This placement was incredible helpful in deciding on my future career path. I got a real insight into what the role would entail on a day to day basis as well as a better understanding of how Pwc's graduate programme works and would be expected of me. In addition everyone who takes part in the women in business programme has a final interview at the end of the week for the full internship programme for the following summer.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid well for my time at Pwc and my travel expenses were reimbursed. However only my travel expenses minus any costs that I would have spent on travelling to the Reading office, where I was based, were reimbursed. Other than travel no other expenses were reimbursed but at the clients sites there were drinks and food provided, so this was not an issue.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 0/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 0/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Pwc have a new joiners committee in each of their offices. They tend to be associates who have joined in the past three years and will have an informal meeting with you during the week. Mine was incredibly helpful as they were able to answer all my questions about the graduate programme, studying for my chartered accountancy, and even housing in Reading. They could answer any questions you have on social activities etc.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes I would definitely recommend Pwc's women in business programme to anyone who is considering a career in accounting. It provides a much greater insight into the role than a one day insight ever could. I was surprised by how much work I could get involved with during the week but I do think that accounting/finance 西瓜视频s would get more from this week than others purely because they would be able to get involved in more of the work.
