    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Taking part in the Tech Academy insight week at PwC was a very enjoyable experience. I had a chance to see two of their London offices (More London and Embankment), which was very useful since they differ quite a lot and focus on different business areas. From the very beginning we felt very welcomed and were treated very professionally by the team. During the first and fifth (last) day all interns had group activities together to learn more about different areas of technology at PwC. During the second, third and fourth days everyone was assigned to a different business area (cyber security in my case) and given a chance to shadow their team on daily activates. Both of those experiences were very enjoyable and all PwC employees really tried to tell us as much as they can and show us what they are working on so that we can get a better understanding of the job.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As I mentioned, I was treated very professionally by everyone, even though I was just there for a 5 days insight week. I was invited to many meetings throughout the day and my hosts were really trying to explain to me new things about cyber security I didn’t understand. They always tried to spend as much time with me as they could. I also got a chance to bond with them and learn more about their careers during lunch breaks or after work.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During the insight I learned a lot about the cyber security and my hosts were always there to answer my questions. They also gave us some tasks to complete throughout the day so that we get a better understanding of their projects. This was extremely valuable, but I wish I got a chance to experience different units of PwC in the same way to learn some more about them first-hand.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would never have thought that I could learn so much about cyber security in just a few days. The insight week at PwC definitely sparked my interest in that area and made me research even more about it afterwards. This is a very useful knowledge, because it showed me how important cyber security is for both companies and individuals and how big this area is going to be in the future. I don’t think though that I learned skills that could be directly translated into my studies, but that wasn’t really the aim of this insight week.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was very well structured. The coordinator of the programme was very well organised. From the very beginning we knew that what will happen throughout the day and on different days of the week. Having mentioned that, I must say that the three days (second, third and fourth) spent with the cyber security team did not have a rigid structure, but this made it much more interesting. Whenever I was free I was invited to different meetings with different people, which really demonstrated to me the range of interesting projects at PwC.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was fantastic! I met a lot of amazing people, both other interns as well as PwC employees. I am sure we all felt as if we were part of the company during those five days. The atmosphere in both of the offices was very enjoyable and everyone was very friendly. It was really a great experience.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight really showed me how it feels to be a PwC employee. Although I didn't do any ‘real’ tasks I got to learn a lot about what my hosts were working on. They discussed with me different aspects of their projects and really tried to get me involved. In general, the insight week allowed me to truly experience the dynamic environment at PwC.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Because I met quite a lot of employees from different units of PwC I really managed to learn a lot about the culture at PwC. They explained to me that there isn’t a strong hierarchy and that everyone is equally valued in the company. What was important to me is that PwC really focuses on their employees – their career development, fulfilment and work-life balance.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very valuable. I feel like I really learned a lot about cyber security and got some insights I couldn’t really get otherwise. The insight week made me much more interested in cyber security in general and encouraged me to follow this career path. In my opinion it would be a great career development, as it would let me gain even more knowledge and experience in that area.
