    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found the insight week invaluable in terms of learning the roles of different people in the business. I enjoyed shadowing various employees at different levels of their careers and I was able to visit a client site which I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to do.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone I encountered was friendly and wanted to answer any questions I had. I was supported in the work I was given to do and encouraged to ask for advice or more information if I wanted to. Even my interview was a comfortable environment. It felt like everyone wanted to help me get the most out of the week.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • If I was carrying out tasks for the people I was shadowing, enough information was usually given so that I could carry out the task on my own. Support was given in terms of helping me connect and talk to more people so that I could find out more about the business.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe taking part in this insight week has improved my confidence in talking and networking with people. I have gained interview experience to draw on later in life, and it had helped me discover what 'professional services' actually is and whether I would like to follow this career path in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • My whole week was planned for me by the recruitment team and I was send a copy of my timetable at the start of the week. Everyone I shadowed knew that I would be with them and came to greet me so I knew where to go. I had time set aside for my own work such as interview prep which was useful to have planned in.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The office was friendly and welcoming to me - I was able to chat with members of staff and go with them to lunch. As previously mentioned, everyone I was with seemed keen to help me make the most of my time and give me any information about the firm I wanted to know.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Shadowing members of staff was a useful insight, especially as I was able to go into meetings and look at the work they had produced, however I could not contribute to this work, and many people I spoke to said that this was 'quiet' for a normal week. Therefore it is hard to say I fully understood what a full time job would be like.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I felt that being able to actually go into the office and see for myself how people work and what kind of tasks they do really helped me to understand how audit works, and I will definitely consider this in the future where as before I had no idea what I would have liked to do after university.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for the week, and I would have had expenses paid for if I needed to get to/from a clients site. However I paid for my travel to and from the office I had the insight in.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The week was based around meeting people and asking questions so I had more than enough opportunity to network and meet people within different lines of service. On my last day, the plan was just to meet lots of different people for meetings and chats and after my interview I was able to request who I wanted to talk to before I left.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I was invited to do the weekly quiz on my last day!

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I shadowed a lady involved in wellbeing and she spoke to me about how this is managed and promoted in the business. There was also a social events board up in the office, and people spoke to me about how they met up outside of work to go out etc.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely go for it if you would like an insight into the business - there's no better way than going there yourself. Even if it is not for you, you have to talk to lots of new people and have an interview which is all great experience for the future. It's well organised and you will get any support you need.
