About You
I really enjoy the insight. I shadowed with different seniors and also had the opportunity to work at the client site. I got a ground understanding of assurance and how assurance team interacts with clients. The work environment is also friendly and supportive. I really enjoy my one-week at PwC.
I felt valued. The first day I came to the office, I got my own work laptop. I was given multiple tasks from different seniors. All my questions were answered and I gained constructive feedback from my seniors. The partner introduced me to the whole office . At the end of the week, I was invited to participate in a networking event, which enabled me to build efficient relationships with my colleagues.
My colleagues were all very supportive and friendly. For example, when I was asked to do research on target businesses, my senior manager guided me to research particular on current performance, type of business and latest news. I worked out a plan and asked him to review and he supported it. I did a good job eventually. Also, when I worked at client site with auditors from other regional offices, they were also very supportive as well. I learned more about the basic procedures and principles of auditing.
I particularly enhanced my ability to deal with multiple papers and complicated data. For example, I checked an audit report over 100 pages with a lot of information about financial statements. This is very useful for my master degree in Business Analytics which requires strong attention to detail.
The Company
The insight was well structured. I worked at office in the first two days and then 2 days at client site. The last day was at office. At firstly, I did basic research which enhanced my research skills. I researched oil industry and fishing industry, which gave me meaningful insights and enhanced my commercial awareness. After two days, I was given more responsibilities. When I worked at client site, I need to extract key information from the spreadsheets and check the consistency of complicated calculations in financial statements. By working with auditors from other regional offices, I realized how important of teamwork in assurance service line. Also, I had the opportunity to speak to different seniors, which enhanced my ability to build effective relationships with people in a very short time.
All people are very friendly and supportive. Everyday you can sit in different seats in the office to meet new people. You can speak to new graduates, mangers, senior mangers, directors and the partner. People there enjoy their work. They were very organized, which motived me to deliver the best result.
Since it is only one week insight, I did not participate in a specific training programme but all of my questions were answered very well. I gained support i needed and constructive feedback for me to improve my work.
I had the opportunity to speak to new joiners. By communicating with them, I got a deep understanding of what their work on a day-to-day basis. For example, the new joiners will be coached by seniors. You will spend much on your qualification study but you will be trained very well and be given self-study time at home.
I learned that PwC is a place where you learn by doing. You need to ask questions and take initiatives. Also, you need to collaborate with your teammates. Networking is also important in PwC, with both internal colleagues and external clients.
By working in a real business environment, I found that auditing is the right thing for me to do. I like working with people. I enjoy high-level interactions with clients. Also, I like working with numbers. I enjoy go through financial statements.
Everything Else
I was paid and reimbursed expenses.
Yes. Even if I was there for only one week, I was invited to a networking dinner. After that, we went to a comedy club.
It was very good. The restaurant was amazing and the comedy club was very relaxing. You have enough time to know people you want to know. Most people in the office attended.

Yes. I strongly recommended. By working in a real environment, you have a better understanding of the role. You can see if it is really suitable for you and if you can fit into the work place. Also, it helps you with your final interview.
