    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Talent Academy was very enjoyable as there was a lot of variation in the activities that were completed. These ranged from dinner with the partner, to an audit style activity to a group project. Meeting PwC employees meant there were a lot of people to talk to and ask questions - everyone was also very friendly. The participants there all wished to work in different sectors within the organisation which I liked as it made room for conversation as well as learning a bit more about the sectors.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The PwC staff were very welcoming and accommodating whilst on the Talent Academy. There was a clear plan set in place so it was clear what the upcoming sessions were and where i needed to attend. The dinner with senior staff was a personal highlight as they showed a real interest in not only my own studies, but also in discussing PwC to ensure I could make a decision if it were the right company for me. There was a chance to mingle with senior staff and participants before the dinner which enabled me to listen to different insights and opinions of current PwC employees.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a lot of guidance during the two days. A handout was given out within our PwC bags that contained a timetable of events for the Talent Academy. Staff were always around to ask questions to, as well as offer support or ideas during group activities. During the group activity for those of us looking into the audit sector, the PwC employees made sure to answer any questions about the company and the sector they worked in.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt from the Talent Academy will definitely assist me in further applications within the assurance sector. The group activity enabled us to see what a realistic task would be like if we were to be working at PwC. There was a lot of information on PwC as a company; this was very useful in my final interview for a summer internship as it gave me an idea of the kind of questions the interviewer may ask.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Talent Academy was very well structured. Before I had even reached the Talent Academy the organisation was very good with emails sent ensuring I knew where to go and a procedure put in place for those who needed additional transport from the Station to the venue. Whilst on the two day course, the timetable ran on time and I always knew where I was supposed to be as well as what the timings of each activiy were.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The Talent Academy programme was filled with activities which were all of high value to the participants. The 'non-stop' feel of the two days was exciting as well as interesting because it taught me a lot of new things and furthered my career motivation. The atmosphere was good due to a good balance between interactive activities and having speeches given by senior staff. All the PwC employees present were very approachable which enabled me to ask questions and feel at ease.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • PwC put all of the participants in a hotel near Birmingham for the two day programme. This meant that each day was very well utilised with a lot of events included. This made sure we got the most out of the Talent Academy as so much information was included for us. Numerous senior staff and employees made the effort to be at the Talent Academy which was so useful as we got to understand perspectives from numerous sectors of the business at different levels.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The group activity for those wishing to work in the assurance sector was very useful as it gave the opportunity to see what a day to day task would be like. The two days also gave a lot of information on PwC as a company and the type of people they employ.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The information was very good for understanding PwC as a whole. Meeting actual PwC employees also helped me to understand this as they could all give their own insight into the company and what working there means for them. I learnt that PwC is all about the employees giving 100% in what they do ensuring a high quality is always delivered to clients.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • For me, the Talent Academy confirmed my desire to work within assurance for a large financial firm. The presentations were very detailed about the company which gave a really good idea as to what it would be like to work at PwC. Learning about PwC, as well as the assurance sector, was thought provoking and it encouraged me to ask questions I hadn't thought of until i was at the Talent Academy.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was plenty of networking to be done with fellow participants as well as PwC employees. All through the day we were networking by meeting so many members of PwC staff and other participants. We had different staff with us for the group activities, group presentation as well as the networking dinner so I heard a lot of different stories and experiences.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking events were fantastic as they were relaxed enough that there was no pressure to ask 'the right questions'. I particularly enjoyed the dinner as there was a chance to chat to everyone before we dined which built relationships between participants and different staff members as well as myself. There was a set seating plan so it also gave the chance to speak to people I hadn't yet met on the programme.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out about some activities employees were involved in as I asked a question about department socials within offices. They all said that in general a lot of the activities outside of work seem to be going out with office friends after work or on a Friday night. Some employees also mentioned Christmas parties within their offices.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this to a friend if they were looking to find out more information within a given sector or are particularly interested in PwC. The Talent Academy was very useful as well as a lot of fun. Although there are so many PwC employees there it is very relaxed which meant any questions could be asked as they were all such nice people.
