The Role
Great people are what made the internship so enjoyable. I was also very lucky to be assigned to an interesting project, although others I know had less interesting work.
This is something that the team I was part of (Insurance regulatory) were absolutely excellent at. I really felt I was leaving a great team that I had become a part of after a very short time.
My 'in-charge' was kind, helpful and gave guidance with great care and attention.
Often alternated between having too little to do, or too much, but this was part of what made the work more exciting.
It increased over the weeks, as people got to know me. It was about the right amount I thought.
My degree is quite different from what I was doing, but I feel I was still taught a lot about structuring work and presenting work in a coherent and comprehensible manner.
The Company
This was due to the good humor of my colleagues and their recognition that a vibrant and fun workplace was also an effective one.
Some people I know had days where they had nothing to do. My whole last week I had not been assigned to any specific job, but this was not a problem as the team I was part of had plenty of work they were happy to give to me.
A lot of time went into us, especially given the short length of the placement. I was very impressed with how much they valued us as employees in this regard.
I was offered a job, but had hoped to change line of service, and have kindly been told that this will mean I can re-enter at a progressed stage of the process.
The Culture
I lived at home and commuted, so accommodation and food were heavily subsidised by my parents!
Not a huge concern for me, I assume it was good.
Yes, plenty, if you had the time and felt it worth doing for the short time of the internship.
