    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of my internship at PwC. I was delegated a wide range of tasks during my time here that kept me interested and engaged throughout. The social side to the 8 week internship was also extremely enjoyable, whether this be socialising with the other inters, with my project team or at networking events, and the array of people that I met here are definitely the highlight of my internship.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked with quite a small project team and from day one they made me feel welcome and part of the group. When delegating work to me, the team always took into consideration that I was there to learn instead of just to complete mundane tasks, and always made time to sit aside with me and provide assistance where needed. I was given regular feedback from the team which was also extremely helpful, and it was made clear that the work I was doing was adding value to the project.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From day one of the internship, an extremely high level of support and guidance was given to each intern. In the residential training, we were split into small groups where we attended 'classrooms' to provide us with all the information needed to start at the PwC office and give a clearer overview of what to expect. Throughout the course of the internship, each intern was assigned both a People Manager and a Buddy, both of which I met once a week and were extremely helpful in answering any questions I had, or providing me with advice.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Whilst the workload of my project varied from day-to-day, on less busy days my team would advise me on other ways to make the most of my time, such as through e-learns to develop my skill set or reaching out to people within the firm to build my network. Overall, I was encouraged to keep myself busy in a variety of ways and never found myself bored. On the other hand, when the team workload was higher, despite some extremely busy days, the team always ensured that the workload given to me was not too much to complete in the given time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The level of responsibility I was given definitely increased toward the end of my internship when my technical knowledge of the project, and confidence in my own work, had grown substantially. In the second half of the 8 week period, I was trusted to own a small part of the project and engage with the client directly regarding this.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Since I study Mathematics at university, the technical skills I developed during my internship are unlikely to benefit my degree, however many of the soft skills I have learnt (public speaking, networking and building relationships, time management) are likely to be invaluable in the future whether this be at university or beyond.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I spent the majority of my internship on client site, however whenever I was at the PwC office the atmosphere was always positive. People in the office are extremely friendly and always willing to talk (despite probably being very busy), and there's a very inclusive, welcoming feel to the workplace.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found that the internship was very well organised from day one when we arrived at the residential training. We were given a schedule for the two days and this was stuck to quite closely. Post-training, everything was sorted for us (a project to work on, a buddy to meet us on arrival etc.) and we were given clear guidance as to where we should be and what we should be doing throughout.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was clear that a lot of time, planning and expense went into the residential training that we completed before starting at the office. We stayed two nights at Beaumont Estate in Windsor (food, accommodation and travel provided) where teaching was given on a very personal level, with about two teachers to every 15-20 interns.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was extremely pleased to have been given a graduate job offer with PwC following on from my internship!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The social scene within the group of interns was great, and we found ourselves either out for dinner together or at the popular local bar near the More London office every Friday evening of the internship. Additionally, the team I worked with organised a variety of outings (dinners, drinks, lunches) that were also really enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Given that the internship was in central London prices tend to be quite high however there are definitely ways around this such as finding happy hours or using the Tastecard app (which is available for PwC employees!) when going out for dinner. Since I normally live in London for university, I'm used to the high rent prices, however for those from outside of London, I think this came as quite a shock!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are loads of great bars scattered around the More London Office (London Bridge area) and a short walk across the river gets you to Shoreditch which is scattered with all different types of bars and clubs. I definitely think that London offers such a wide variety of nights out that there's something to suit everyone.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • PwC offers a wide range of different things to get involved in, all of which you can search for on the internal homepage, or ask around at networking events and someone will be sure to point you in the right direction.
