    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This is not a program thrown together to simply tick a box about university outreach. It is well structured and exposes you to real client work like no other internship. No one could dispute that PwC is a great place to start your career giving you a comprehensive overview of the financial world. If I could change one thing, it would be the pace at which things got up and running. My advice would be to be patient but proactive.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • On my list of reasons for wanting to join PwC on their graduate programme after completing my internship, the people would be number one. I was worried I would come across arrogant banker-types but was not the case. Everyone was willing to take time out their day to meet with you because each individual is valued and you're just paying forward a time someone helped you.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You have a buddy, a people manager, a line manager and the rest of the client team around you. You receive regular honest feedback so the support is there, you just need to utilise it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As is the world of consulting, each day was different and with each different day, there was a varying workload. At the start, I do feel my time may not have been utilised effectively but once you develop skills, you have more to offer and the work definitely picks up. Take the time to read up on the area you're in and integrate with your team

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My manager was great in making sure I had my own set of deliverables to work on which gave me total ownership. However small these tasks were, it was great to feel like my work mattered and I was making a valuable contribution.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Communication, presentation, adapting to other ways of working, the way you present yourself, the way others perceive you, mixing with a range of people the list of soft skills goes on and on. I have become so much more confident and mature without a shadow of a doubt. In terms of academic skills, my internship wasn't particularly 'technical' in this sense so if you're looking for that sort of experience, I would avoid consultancy

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was on client site 4 or 5 days a week so it wasn't your typical office set up. I interacted with the clients as much I did with the PwC team as we were delivering the project together. The team was really diverse which was great and gelled really nicely. I have to say the hardest part was knowing where to draw the line with the client - you were on the same team but technically being paid at the same time so mistakes could not be tolerated. It was a good lesson to learn about the personal-professional balance!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As previously mentioned, the structure was sound, the execution could be improved. I would have really appreciated more pre-internship information as I was working in a city which was not my hometown. Just the knowledge that I would be on client site came as a surprise.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Having come from the Talent Academy to the Summer Internship to be offered a Graduate Role, it is clear that PwC is investing in its people. I was even able to trial the future assessments which demonstrated their constant growth and development. People really do drive the company so cultivating the right culture is paramount.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing - I have a job with them!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There were 80 interns in the London office, 21 of whom were doing management consulting. As we were pretty much all on client site Monday-Thursday it was hard to catch up on these days. However, everyone was back in the office on Friday and we would organise lunches and drinks and discussions about how the internship was going. You could not find a better group of people.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was in London so it was much more expensive than I was used to. However, that's the nature of London and we were paid more than the regions to compensate this.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London nightlife was great. There was always something going on and always someone willing go along with you. You maybe don't have as much time in the week to enjoy it as you may like but that's what the weekend is for! Definitely make the most of it while you have the opportunity

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many drinks socials. Honestly, I know they do do this sort of thing, but with the internship only being 8 weeks, it wasn't something I saw as integral to having a great summer.
