The Role
Overall I really enjoyed the experience and insight into the world of accounting. There were many ups and downs, but overall I would not be able to recommend it more.
For the first two weeks working with the client, perhaps a combination of not knowing too much, a slightly less accomodating 'in charge' and a slightly more difficult client, led to me feeling a little bit like a stick in the works every now and then, but I still felt I produced some good and valued work. On my second client, I could not have asked for a better 'in charge' he really went above and beyone what I would have dreamt of, giving me some great coaching and really helping me understand what we were doing. I managed to work much more independently because of this and felt like what I was doing actually mattered.
As mentioned above, on the first job I felt like I was inconveniencing my in charge when I was asking for help, and was told more 'what' to do rather than explained why and how we did things. The second job could not have been more different, I recieved a great deal of coaching from my supervisor and really enjoyed my time there.
I spent all of my time at the client sites, and other than one day, I was very busy the whole time... which was great!
Quite a lot, we interacted with the client a lot on our own and the work we did actually went into the final product after a little bit of reviewing. You really have to make sure you're paying attention and following all the procedures.
Not at all in my studies as I do an unrelated science subject. However in later life, as I'm planning on doing the ACA, it will help greatly! I now know what to expect if/when I get or apply for a graduate job, and the work experience you can put on your CV is invaluable.
The Company
I only spent a couple of days in the office, but generally it was an exciting friendly atmosphere. Also free coffee was fantastic.
Very well organised, you could tell a lot of planning and money had been put into everything from training to the work and laptops. There were always people you could talk to if you needed help with anything!
We didn't recieve as much training as I would have liked, as most of what you know is picked up on the job. However a little more initial training would have been nice so that we could have gone to the client site with a little more confidence that I had any idea what I was doing. However after a little bit of explaining you pick most things up fairly quickly. We all recieved nice new expensive laptops to do the work on. These were very sophisticated, despite mine having a few issues - although the IT department were very helpful!

Very, I would love to work for PwC in the future and train towards the ACA, hopefully I will recieve a graduate job offer! A very friendly and ethical organisation, that was great to be a part of.
The Culture
We were in a regional office, so there was not much going on socially as we would all finish at different client sites miles apart and then be too far away to really do anything. Although for the offices in the cities the social side looked fantastic!
Fairly cheap, although it would have been better to be somewhere more expensive if that meant more social opportunities.
It's ok, although that's from other experiences, not the internship.
Not too many, there's an office 5 a side team but that's not much good if you don' like football! Other than that we didn't hear about things or there weren't many on!
