    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • When working on client jobs I was instantly welcomed and felt part of the team. We had lunches togther whilst based at client sites as well as when we were based in the office. Beyond the client work, each business unit is divided into social groups, where a variety of social events are organised, ranging from going to a bar/pub after work, to dinners. This greatly enhanced my experience as I felt part of a team, and was included throughout the internship.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I had a question that I could not solve myself, I could ask another member of the team for help and advice. The team were always happy to assist and encouraged us to ask questions, as the aim of the internship is for us to learn new skills and gain experience in the field. This enabled me to learn a great deal about assurance and PwC, and I therefore found the internship an extremely valuable and enjoyable learning experience.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was always booked ont a client job and given tasks to complete throughout the internship. Whilst booke on a client job, the tasks are assigned to each individual working on that job. Once each task is completed, it was easy to move onto the next. If all work on that client was completed, the team was always able to find more work for me to complete. One day when I finished all the client work I had been assigned to, I was asked to reseatch opportunities for business development for one of the teams based in the London office.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • During the internship, I was given similar responsibilities to those of a new graduate joiner. In assurance that included working with different teams to help with the audit process of the end of year accounts. The responsibilities ranged from completing bank reconciliations, to filling out the lead schedule from the trial balance. For one of the jobs I was assigned to, there were only two of us copleting the audit on site, therefore I was given more responsibility than an intern would usually be given.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot of skills to do with business and assurance. The first few days of the internship were set aside for training. This involved tutorials covering a lot of the knowledge we required for during the internship. This taught us all a lot about the audit process, how PwC functions and businesses in general. Without these tutorials, I would have really struggled to complete the work during the course of the internhsip, as I study engineering at univeristy, therefore had only a basic level of prior knowledge before starting the internship.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very relaxed, and there appeared to be no pressure at all. Everything seemed very flexable, as long as the required work was completed on time, the way in which we approached it was irelevant. We could choose when we took time off for lunch, and we were always able to have a chat with other interns, or colleagues in the office. Overall the atmosphere was a lot more relaxed than I expected.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised right from the start. We started with a three day residential stay to meet all the interns and for tutorials for our line of service. The organisation of this event was seamless, and flowed very well throughout. After this we had an office and IT induction which was also seamless. When we started client work, the scheduling system was very well run, it was easy to find out who was on the team, and how to get in contact with them. There was not one organisational issue throughout the 6 week internhsip.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a significant amount into our development throughout the internship. The first three days was a residential trip for line of service training. This included many tutorials from recently qualified senior associates. PwC also ran many events throughout the internship to broaden our experience and development in acocuntancy. I was surprised with the amount the firm had invested in our training and development, and beleive this is one of the reasons why PwC is the top professional services firm.

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If I am offered a job by PwC I will be very likely to accept the offer. The experience has far surpassed my expectations throughout the internhsip. I was surprised with the amount of time and effort that was spent ensuring the internship was the best possible experience for us. The only reason I would not continue working for PwC after graduation would be if I am not made an offer, however I understand that it is very likely that an offer will be made as 95% of interns at PwC continue onto agraduate job.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • As there were so many summer interns in the London offices, we met up a lot throughout the experience. The first three days of the internship was a residential trip, which involved a lot of time for socialising and networking. Following on form that PwC aranged several events where we saw other interns who were based at other offices, and therefore we were able to discuss the experience with interns from across the country. Overall there was a great social scene amongst all the interns on the summer internhsip.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based in the London office, so the cost of living was very high. However, it was definitely worth while, as I beleive there are a lot more opportunities available in London within accountancy, so don't let the cost of living put you off. PwC pays all staff based in London a slightly higher salary, whilst this does not compensate the difference in cost of living, it makes a difference and helps fund it.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many activities going on at PwC outside of the work itself. There are different sports societies and other clubs within PwC. These societies do different activities throughout the year, and a lot of interns joined up. There were also social events aranged for after work, which was a nice opportunity to meet with coleagues on a non professional basis. The social events included going to bars/pubs and going for dinner at lunch or after work.
