The Role
It gave me a great insight into my line of work and enabled me to decide whether I would want to pursue this line of work for a future career.
Everyone tried there best to keep me busy, but it was clear that at some points it was difficult to spend a lot of time training me because my colleagues had urgent work to do.
My people manager was fantastic!! She really took care of me that I had work to do, kept on top of my feedback and did everything she could to make sure I would excel on my internship and possibly get an offer at the end of my 6 weeks. She also took the time to walk me through anything I wanted to know and learn.
It depended on whether people had much for me to do. Some days I was super busy and others I spent the majority of the day training and developing my skills.
I shadowed people quite a lot, but I was given responibility to complete calculations that were to be sent to clients (obviously sent after they are reviewed).
I have not returned back to uni yet but when I do I now have learnt how to organise my time, but most importantly pickeed up new information in tax knowledge and the different forms of tax that i will ahve to pay. I also have more of an awareness of the tax implications a firm has when they move their workers from place to place and what tax residency they fall under.
The Company
Really friendly and everyone was really approachable.
It was well organised, although I did find there was at some points a lack of information given to the whole department that I was there to be givenw ork and everyones responsibility within the department and not just certain individuals.
Alot, after 3 days of intense training we had a further 2 in the office. However for my area it would be more useful to have further training on excel and other more specialised information for my area as people in my department sometimes ran out of time to train me themselves.
Appealing because PwC is such a successful business and to say you have worked here is well respected by others. Likewise the experience you gain from spending time here is like no other and so in this respect very good
The Culture
Yes very good we were very sociable and met for lunch every day and did spend time on the weekends. within my team i was invited on numerous social events which was great!
Not to expensive, but I did live at home.
Good I knew it from living here my whole life.
Soically yes, but for sports the teams had finished for the summer.
