The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the company as a whole and more specifically about Technology Consulting in Belfast. I got placed on a project in London and this gave me real life experience of the positives and negatives of consulting and has helped me to plan my career.
I felt extremely valued. The project I worked on was coming up to a lot of deadlines and I helped massively to hit the deadlines they had in place. My team stressed that they couldn't have done it without me.
My manager was excellent in ensuring that I was comfortable on the project and introduced me to everyone. They were fabulous at ensuring I always had work to do and wasn't bored. They also organised a couple of dinners for me to get to know some of the team more personally.
Extremely busy. I felt like an actual worker rather than an intern!
A lot of responsibility. I was configuring and testing large portions of a clients financial systems and if any of my work was wrong then there may be serious implications both for the client and the clients relationship with PwC. Unfortunately I never got to meet the client.
I have further improved my time management skills to an excellent standard as this was an extremely important part of my role on the project. I have also developed a better understanding of a company's financial systems which will help me with any accounting modules I may have. Further on from that I have discovered what areas I would definitely not want to work on and been shown areas I didn't even know existed.
The Company
Very hard working and quiet. But very social at lunch time and in the morning.
It was very well organised as we were on a project monday to thursday and then training on Friday.
The firm invested alot of staff time in training me and discussing my plans for the future. However I would love to hear more about people's career paths.
They are appealing in sectors other than the one that my internship was in. Ultimately I view the internship as positive as I do not believe Technology Consulting is for me and I wouldn't have learnt that without the internship.
The Culture
Unfortunately I was away from the rest of the interns during the week.
It was very expensive. And unsocial.
It was lively enough.
There was a running club on my project.
