The Role
I thouroughly enjoyed my internship - a lot of varied experience within the firm and met a lot of very interesting and inspiring people.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues - and they expressed this in my feedback. Despite my lack of experience and qualifications they trusted me in tasks that graduates would have to complete.
I was given a lot of support by my people manager and on all jobs the team are always happy to answer any questions and coach you through all allocated tasks,
This varied greatly depending on the client - some days I would constantly have work to do but never felt overwhelmed whereas some days due to slow responces from the clients I had less to do. But luckily due to the friendliness of the team I was never bored during the calmer work periods.
I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility in the sense that some tasks were allocated solely to me- however everything I completed was then reviewed by people more senior so it was never overwhelming.
I study physics and maths so my degree won't necessarily have benefitted, but I feel my interpersonal and organisational skills have improved fastly.
The Company
Really buzzy and friendly - due to hot-desking system noone has set seats so its a very sociable environment and there are very few cliques present or a hierarchical atmosphere.
Training weekend was extremely well organised and throughout the internship everyone is kept regurlarly uptodate with their jobs through an online portal.
The firm invests a lot in their interns and graduates, the training weekend away and constant coaching is a demonstration of this.
Very appealing - I would love the opportunity to work here after my studies.
The Culture
Yes - we had a FB group and socials were organised regurlarly amongst us. Especially at the London offices - unfortunately I missed out on a lot of office based socialising as I was always at a client site, but those in the office tended to have lunch together and go for drinks after work.
I was lucky to be able to stay at home during the internship but London nightlife is expensive, but as there is so much to do this didn't bother me.
Great.
There were occasional work group socials/yoga classes/ touch rugby and other charity events running that you could get involved with if you so desired.
