  • Overall, I have enjoyed my summer internship. Having had a long break prior to joining PwC, I was looking forward to getting stuck into some work and meeting lots of new people. I enjoyed working on some challenging projects and receiving feedback on the work that I carried out.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt highly valued by my colleagues and was given lots of responsibilities from day one. I often was requested to carry out pieces of work for different colleagues, and they regularly looked for me to assist them with their work. I felt that the work carried out was valued and that it assisted my colleagues greatly. My colleagues were always there to support me and this was very useful when I was new to the firm.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From day one, I received lots of support and guidance from my management/supervisors. My people manager was very welcoming and offered to be there for support if I ever needed it. I took part in a mid-internship meeting and a final meeting towards the end. Guidance was offered on how best to attain work and overall my people manager was a friendly face, whom I could always look for if I required any support.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • From day 1 in the office, I had lots of work to do. I started off on a capital allowances project and picked up lots of different pieces of work throughout. I was particularly busy in my first week, however much quieter in the following week. This was useful, however, since it gave me a good opportunity to carry out any internship work that isn't related to client work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility throughout. I worked on a range of projects, including capital allowances review, R&D claim and restructuring. I was responsible for writing down minutes from meetings and feeding back to the manager and working alongside many different colleagues on a variety of work. I was responsible to meet regular deadlines and feedback to managers daily.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I have developed will be invaluable throughout my career. I have really good foundations of the knowledge required to work in professional services. I have learned how to best deal with clients, how to communicate with colleagues and many different areas of tax involved in accounting. The motivation and focus I have developed will be useful when completing my final year and the thought of having a job offer already will definitely assist with my degree studies next year.
